Objective To investigate the clinical effect of the Chinese herbal compound "Jiawei Sanao Decoction" in treating upper airway cough syndrome with wind-phlegm type and its effect on the peripheral blood Th1/Th2 cytokine levels in patients. Methods A total of 92 patients who met the clinical criteria for upper airway cough syndrome wind phlegm type were randomly assigned to the Jiawei Sanao Decoction treatment group and the western medicine control group at a ratio of 1:1.The treatment group was treated with the Chinese herbal compound "Jiawei Sanao Decoction";the control group was treated with the western medicine loratadine tablets combined with montelukast sodium tablets.Patients in both groups took 2 weeks as a course of treatment. After treatment, clinical symptoms and signs, changes in peripheral blood Th1/Th2 cytokines were observed, and safety tests were performed. Results 1.A total of 92 cases that met the diagnostic criteria were included in this study.89 cases were finally completed,44 cases in the treatment group,45 cases in the control group, and 3 cases of shedding(the shedding rate was 3.26%).2.Efficacy of TCM syndromes:The clinical symptoms and pharynx scores of the two groups decreased after treatment, with significant differences(P<0.05);in terms of improvement in cough, sputum, and pharynx signs, the treatment group was significantly better than the control group.Sexual differences(P<0.05);there was no difference between the two groups in terms of improvement in postnasal drip and pruritus(P>0.05).3.Cough improvement onset time:There was a significant difference between the treatment group and the control group(P<0.05).4.The overall effectiveness of the two groups:11 cases were cured clinically,20 cases were markedly effective,9 cases were effective,4 cases were ineffective, the total effective rate was 90.90%;4 cases were clinically cured in the control group,9 cases were markedly effective,22 cases were effective, and 10 cases were ineffective For example, the total effective rate is 77.78%.There was a very significant difference between the treatment group and the control group(P<0.01).5.Quality of life score:As measured by the LCQ questionnaire, the total scores of both groups increased after treatment, with a very significant difference(P<0.01),and the improvement of the treatment group was significantly different than the control group(P<0.05).6.Peripheral blood Th1/Th2 cytokine levels:After treatment, the levels of peripheral blood IFN-y increased and the level of IL-4 decreased, both of which had significant differences(P<0.05).There was a significant difference between the treatment group and the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The traditional Chinese medicine compound "Jiawei Sanao Decoction" is effective for treating patients with upper airway cough syndrome and wind-phlegm type, which can significantly alleviate their clinical symptoms and signs, balance the peripheral blood Th1/Th2 cytokine levels, shorten the course of treatment, and improve the life of patients quality, which is safe and feasible,is worth promoting.
