Clinical Study On The Effect Of External Treatment Of Mirabilite And Borneol Powder On The Recovery Of Local Swelling After Rhinoplasty

Objective:To investigate the effectiveness of the topical application of mirabilite and borneol powder after rhinoplasty on the recovery of local swelling postoperatively,and to provide a new idea of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine for rapid rehabilitation after rhinoplasty.Methods:A total of 40 female patients underwent rhinoplasty under general anesthesia in the plastic surgery department of Jiangsu provincial hospital of Chinese medicine from April 2019 to January 2020 were involved.They were divided into two groups,20 cases in each of the treatment group and the control group.Mirabilite and borneol powder(mirabilite 100g,borneol 2g)was applied on the operation area in the treatment group,5 days after the operation when the nasal clips was removed,l hour each time,2-3 times a day,untile 1 month after the operation.The specific time can be adjusted according to the wetting condition of the powder and the patient's tolerance.The control group had the same dosage,external application time and period as the treatment group.On the 7th,10th,15th and 30th day after the operation,the swelling of the surgical area was evaluated,and three-dimensional photos were taken.By establishing a 3D image of the patient's face,the telangiectasia of the nose and surrounding tissues(percentage of gray area)and the changes in the volume of the nose were measured to analyze the swelling degree of the surgical area.The pain scores and satisfaction value of the patients in these four periods were collected.The recovery of the incision was evaluated on day 10 after operation.Statistical analysis was performed on the collected data to evaluate the efficacy of external treatment of mirabilite and borneol powder.RESUITS:(1)There are significant differences between the treatment group and the control group in the scoring results of swelling in the surgical area,the capillary expansion of the nose and surrounding tissues(percentage of gray area),and the changes in the volume of the nose at 7,10,15,and 30 days after the operation(P<0.05).(2)There are no statistically significant differences in pain scores between the treatment group and the control group at 7,10,15 and 30 days after surgery(P>0.05).(3)There is no significant difference in postoperative satisfaction between the treatment group and the control group after 7 days(P>0.05).While the comparison of satisfaction scores between the two groups at 10,15 and 30 days after surgery make sense(P<0.05).(4)The recovery of the incision at 10 days after surgery:the overall effective rate of the treatment group is 90%,which is better than 85%of the control group.Conclusion:The external treatment of mirabilite and borneol powder can effectively promote the local swelling recovery after rhinoplasty,shorten the period of detumescence,reduce the postoperative anxiety and improve patient satisfaction.Moreover,this method is convenient and easy to implement,with precise curative effect,no toxic and side effects,high patient acceptance,and significative clinical value.
