Objective: To observe the short-term efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine preparation(Huoxue Xiaozhong prescription)in the treatment of limb swelling and pain after arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction,so as to provide a reference for the reduction of limb swelling and pain and other complications after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, and to find a treatment method to improve the postoperative limb swelling and pain. Methods: From December 2017 to September 2018,a total of 257 patients were diagnosed with ACL injury and received arthroscopic surgery for postoperative limb swelling and Pain in the department of sports injury of fuzhou hospital of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine in fujian province, and 2 of them lost follow-up.Finally,78 patients meeting the requirements were included, including 44 males and 34 females. They were aged between 19 and 45,with an average age of 31.7.There were 48 cases of left knee and 30 cases of right knee.Cause of injury: 65 cases was sports injury,13 cases was fall injury. The time from injury to surgery was 3 weeks to 4 months, with an average of 2.1 months.ACL reconstruction was performed using the same surgical technique. After the operation,a non-participating researcher was divided into experimental group and control group by random number grouping method, with 39 cases in each group. The experimental group received oral Chinese medicine preparation(Huoxue Xiaozhong prescription)+ basic treatment(elevation of the affected limb, ice compress, active pump exercise, and postoperative functional rehabilitation, etc.),while the control group received only basic treatment(elevation of the affected limb, ice compress, active pump exercise and functional rehabilitation,etc.).Both groups received the same course of treatment(14 days). The visual pain score(VAS)of the patients in the two groups at 1 day,1 week,2 weeks and 1 month after the operation was recorded,as well as the degree of swelling and activity of the affected limb and the safety assessment after the use of the drug, and the data at different time points were compared within and between groups, and statistical analysis was conducted. Results: The follow-up period was 1 month. There were no statistically significant differences between the two groups in age, gender, cause of injury, average course of disease, injury distribution, injury condition, operation time, and leg swelling degree of 10 cm under the patellar region 1 day after surgery(before treatment)(P>0.05).After 1 week of treatment, the lower leg swelling value of 10 cm under the patellar region in the test group was 10cm(6.54±1.41mm),and the lower leg swelling value of 10 cm under the patellar region in the control group was 10cm(13.12±3.99mm).After 2 weeks of treatment, the lower leg swelling value of 10 cm under the patellar region in the test group was 10cm(1.47±1.16mm),and the lower leg swelling value of 10 cm under the patellar region in the control group was 10cm(2.86± 8.88mm),which was significantly different between the two groups(P<0.01).At 1 month after surgery, the lower leg swelling value of 10 cm under the patellar region in both groups presented negative values and showed statistical difference(P<0.01).The total effective rate was 89.74%.The total effective rate was 61.54% in the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in pain score between the two groups one day after surgery(before treatment)after limb activity(P>0.05).At 1 and 2 weeks after surgery, the pain scores of the affected limbs in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences between the two groups(P<0.01).There was no significant difference in the score of the affected limb activity between the two groups one day after surgery(before treatment)(P>0.05).At 1 and 2 weeks after surgery, the score of the mobility of the affected limb in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group, and there was a statistical difference between the two groups(P<0.05).Conclusion: Early postoperative intervention with the Huoxue Xiaozhong prescription after arthroscopic ACL reconstruction can accelerate the postoperative swelling regression of the affected limb, relieve the pain of the affected limb, improve the range of motion of the affected limb, promote early functional rehabilitation, and improve the clinical efficacy. In addition, the oral administration is safe and reliable with small adverse reactions.
