The Study Of Treating Joint Swelling In The Near Future Using TongBiLing After Knee Arthroscopic Surgery

ObjectiveBy exploring the efficacy of treatment joint swelling with Tongbiling tablets after knee arthroscopic surgery, provide reference for the clinical use of the drugs.MethodsFrom June,2014 to Aril,2015, at the third branch of orthopedics department in the first affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, those patients who underwent arthroscopy to reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and/or to repair the injured meniscus, but found to have evident swelling of knee joint in the outpatient follow-up in 2 weeks after operation, are eligible for the study, in total 39 patients:22 male and 17 female; 23 patients with simple meniscus injury and 16 patients with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture-combined with the meniscus injury. Treatment group and control group were established by the sequence of patient enrollment in this study, the patients who allocated with odd number enrolled to the treatment group and were treated with Tongbiling pills, in total 20 patients; among them:12 male and 8 female, average age is average age 26.50 ± 7.294 year; 13 patients with simple meniscus injury and 7 patients with ACL rupture combined with the meniscus injury. The patients who allocated with even number enrolled to the control group and were treated with Nimesulide sustained-release tablets, in total 19 patients; among them:10 male and 9 female, average age is average age 29.53 ± 8.488 year; 10 patients with simple meniscus injury and 9 patients with ACL rupture combined with the meniscus injury. The circumference of patella center and 2 cm above patella, swelling degree of patients of two groups were measured prior treatment, one week and two weeks after treatment (end events defined as swelling degree of knee joint ≤1 degree or treatment of two weeks). These two groups were compared and analyzed statistically after the data collection.ResultsIn treatment group before treatment, the perimeter of the mid-patella patellar is (36.60 ± 1.635cm), the perimeter of prior 2cm to the patella is (38.45±1.490cm), In control group before treatment, the perimeter of the mid-patella patellar is (36.22 ± 1.542cm), the perimeter of prior 2cm to the patella is (37.40 ± 1.601cm), In treatment group after a week of treatment, the perimeter of the mid-patella patellar is (35.83 ± 1.574cm), the perimeter of prior 2cm to the patella is (37.15 ± 1,472cm), In control group after a week of treatment,the perimeter of the mid-patella patellar is (35.92 ± 1.473cm), the perimeter of prior 2cm to the patella is (35.48 ± 1.390cm), In treatment group after two week of treatment, the perimeter of the mid-patella patellar is (35.27±1.502cm), the perimeter of prior 2cm to the patella is (36.53±1.395cm), In control group after two week of treatment, the perimeter of the mid-patella patellar is (35.34±1.394cm), the perimeter of prior 2cm to the patella is (35.23±1.297cm). In treatment group after two weeks of treatment, inefficiency 2 cases, efficiency 4 cases, significant efficacy 14cases, the effective rate is 90.00%; control group therapy two weeks after, inefficiency 3 cases, efficiency 7cases, significant efficacy 10 cases, the effective rate is 84.21%, there is no statistical difference between two group (P> 0.05). After one week of treatment between the two groups of knee circumference was no significant difference (P>0.05), between the two groups after 2 weeks of treatment mid-point knee circumference was no significant difference (P> 0.05), between the treatment groups 2cm patella knee circumference difference was statistically significant after 2 weeks (P< 0.05). And after one week of treatment, knee circumference difference after two weeks of treatment before treatment within the two groups was statistically significant (P<0.05), and after two weeks of treatment difference was not statistically significant after one week of treatment within the two groups (P> 0.05). There are differences between the two groups of treatment efficiency was not statistically significant (P>0.05).ConclusionTongbiling piece can effectively relieve joint swelling after arthroscopic surgery, it is quite effective with the short-term treatment of nimesulide sustained-release tablets, and Chinese traditional medicine side effect is minor, Can be long-term oral drugs, can be used in the treatment of knee swelling after acute and chronic knee swelling.
