Objective:To investigate the correlation between serum MMP-9 level and cognitive function in patients with epilepsy.Methoths:Sixty cases of epilepsy patients admitted to the outpatient department of the second hospital of hebei medical university from December 2017 to September 2018 were enrolled, and twenty-eight cases of healthy subjects were selected.Basic information of subjects and relevant clinical data of patients with epilepsy were collected.MoCA cognitive assessment was performed on all subjects after fasting blood collection, and the score greater than or equal to 26 was considered as normal cognitive function, while the score less than 26 was considered as cognitive dysfunction.Serum MMP-9 levels were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Finally,SPSS22 statistical software was used to analyze the data.Results:1.The MoCA score, visual space/executive function, naming, memory, attention and language score in the epilepsy group were lower than those in the healthy control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P < 0.05).2.Serum MMP-9 level in epilepsy group was significantly higher than that in healthy control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).3.The serum MMP-9 level of patients with epilepsy was negatively correlated with their MoCA score,visuospatial/executive ability, memory, attention, language, abstract ability and orientation(P<0.05).Has nothing to do with naming(P>0.05).4.The serum MMP-9 level of patients with epilepsy was correlated with their age, education level, course duration, frequency of seizure, duration of seizure, and abnormal discharge of EEG(P < 0.05);Gender,age of onset, type of seizure and antiepileptic drugs were not related(P > 0.05).5.Cognitive function in patients with epilepsy and their age, degree of education, course duration, frequency of attack,The duration of the seizure, abnormal discharge of EEG(P<0.05),use multiple stepwise linear regression analysis, eliminate the influence of confounding factors, the final result: cognitive function in patients with epilepsy is only related to age, education level, attack frequency.6.ROC curve analysis showed that the area under the curve of serum MMP-9 was 0.987 and AUC>0.5;The critical value of serum mmp-9 was 166.15ng/ml.Conclusions:1.Patients with epilepsy have cognitive dysfunction and cognitive threshold impairment is multifaceted, which is manifested in visual space/executive function, naming, memory, attention, language, etc. The cognitive dysfunction of patients with epilepsy is related to their age, education level and frequency of seizures.2.The serum MMP-9 level of patients with epilepsy was increased, and the older the age,the lower the education level, the longer the course of disease, the higher the frequency of seizures, the longer the duration of seizures, the higher the serum mmp-9 level of patients with abnormal discharge of EEG may be.The serum MMP-9 level is associated with a number of cognitive dysfunction.3.Serum MMP-9 may have certain diagnostic value in the diagnosis of cognitive dysfunction in epilepsy.
