| Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate the postoperative efficacy of root canal therapy with the subjective experience of the subjects, and to investigate the changes in preoperative and postoperative quality of life, oral health-related quality of life and pain comfort in root canal therapy. The improvement of quality of life and related factors were analyzed in preoperative,1 month after operation and 6 months after operation. Methods A total of 111 subjects who met the inclusion criteria were followed up for a investigation. The oral health impact scale and visual analogue scale were performed at the initial diagnosis of root canal therapy,1 month and 6 months after surgery.Descriptive analysis of the general data usage ratio and frequency of the research subjects.Wilcoxon rank sum test was used to test the oral health-related quality of life and pain changes before and after root canal therapy, and linear regression analysis was performed on related influencing factors. Results 1)The mean of OHIP-14 score was(12.27±5.92)at the time of preoperative of root canal therapy, and the mean of VAS score was(2.44±1.24).The mean of OHIP-14 score at the first month after surgery was(8.65±5.37),the mean of VAS score was(0.83±0.60).The mean of OHIP-14 score was(8.65±5.40)at 6 months postoperatively, and the mean of VAS score was(0.78±0.64).The scores of OHIP-14 and VAS in the two groups at 1 month and 6 months after root canal treatment were lower than those at the time of preoperative.2)There was significant difference of OHIP-14 and VAS between the two groups of preoperative and at the first month after the root canal therapy(P<0.05).3)There was significant difference of OHIP-14 and VAS between the two groups of preoperative and 6 months after operation(P<0.05).4)There was no significant difference in the scores of OHIP-14 and VAS between the two groups after 1 month and 6 months after root canal therapy(P>0.05).5)Age,education level, and repair methods were significantly associated with improvement of OHRQoL after root canal therapy(P<0.05),and age and education level were important factors.Age is positively correlated with OHRQoL,that is,the older the age,the higher the OHIP-14 and VAS scores, the worse the OHRQoL.The education level is negatively correlated with OHRQol,the lower the education level, the higher the OHIP-14 and VAS scores,OHRQoL is worse. Conclusions 1)After root canal treatment, quality of life can be improved,OHIP-14 and VAS scores are generally reduced, and OHRQoL is improved;2)There is no significant change in OHRQoL between 1 month after root canal treatment and 6 months after surgery.3)The VAS value of the initial diagnosis of root canal treatment is generally higher than the VAS value of 1 month and 6 months after operation, that is,root canal treatment can relieve pain;4)Age and education level are important factors influencing OHRQoL before and after root canal therapy. |
