Research Progress Of Catgut Implantation At Acupoint Treatment Of Postpartum Obesity

Postpartum obesity is a disorder of fatty metabolism,which is mainly characterized by postpartum weight retention.The incidence of postpartum has increased year by year.Postpartum obesity is associated with increasing risks of many diseases,such as type 2 diabetes,hypertension,coronary heart disease,stroke,osteoarthritis,and cancer,which could have a serious impact on the physical and mental health of patients.The occurrence of postpartum obesity is mainly related to factors such as weight gain during pregnancy,differences in breastfeeding,changes in dietary patterns,and decreased exercise during pregnancy.There are a lot of method to lose weight such as changing lifestyle,taking oral medications or undergoing surgical procedures,while lifestyle interventions are mainly for postpartum obesity.Although lifestyle changes(including dieting and taking more exercise)can improve postpartum obesity to some extent,there are still some limitations,such as poor patient compliance,slow weight loss and high rebound rate,which cause certain trouble to patients.So it is urgent to find a safe and effective weight loss therapy.Acupoint embedding is a kind of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)that prevents or treats diseases by embedding the gut line or absorbable surgical suture by continuous stimulation of the acupoints on the acupoints base on the TCM theory of syndrome differentiation.Numerous studies have shown that there is a significant effect on postpartum obesity of acupoint embedding.And acupoint embedding may improve postpartum obesity by improving leptin resistance,changing the chronic inflammatory state of the body,regulating intestinal flora,and improving brown fat function through various signaling pathways.There are a lot of factors may influence the effect of acupoint embedding on postpartum obesity,such as the selection of acupoints,the combination of acupoints,and the stimulation intensity of acupoint embedding.In this paper,we reviewed the the recent researches on postpartum obesity and postpartum weight retention treated with acupoint embedding,and briefly summarized the mechanism and treatment plan,in order to provide new ideas and basis for the treatment of postpartum obesity.
