Objective:To analyze clinical characteristics benign convulsions with mild gastroenteritis(CwG),in order to improve the understanding of the disease, reduce clinical unnecessary treatment.Analysis of risk factors for recurrence, recurrence of risk factors in children, should be closely followed up,active prevention. Methods:The clinical data of 530 CwG children admitted to the department of neurology of Shanxi Children's hospital from April 2010 to March 2015 were analyzed retrospectively, including general condition, convulsion characteristics, family history, auxiliary examination and treatment.Telephone follow-up was conducted for 3.5 to 8.5 years to ask whether the children had recurrent convulsions, when they had recurrent convulsions, electroencephalogram and motor intelligence development at the time of recurrence. The patients were divided into the recurrence group and the non-recurrence group, the risk factors for recurrence in children with CwG were analyzed by chi-square test.Results:1?Clinical characteristics:Children with CwG tend to be 1-2 years old,and the onset season is mostly autumn and winter. Most convulsions occurred within 3 days after gastroenteritis symptoms, and only 20 cases(3.8%)convulsions occurred before gastroenteritis symptoms.Convulsions are generally characterized by a generalized seizure. The course of a disease is usually characterized by clusters of attacks, concentrated within24 hours of the first seizure. The duration of a single convulsion was less than or equal to 5min.42.3% of the children were positive for rotavirus.First-degree relatives of 32 patients had a history of convulsion, and CwG was present in 6 siblings.2?Long-term follow-up:530 cases were followed up by telephone,of which 52 cases were lost to follow-up.In the remaining 478 cases,37(7.7%)had recurrent seizures,29(6.1%)had recurrent CwG,5(1.1%)had recurrent with fever, and 3(0.6%)had recurrent epilepsy. The time of recurrence was mostly within 6 months(79.3%),and the frequency of recurrence was mostly 1(89.6%).3?Risk factors for recurrence:The results of chi-squared test showed that the risk factors of recurrence were determined the age of initial onset was less than 18 months.(P < 0.05,the difference was statistically significant). Conclusions:CwG is usually clustery, which may occur again within 24 hours of the first convulsion in the course of a disease, and should be actively prevented if necessary.Children with CwG are likely to recur, and most of them occur within 6 months after the onset of CwG.Therefore, vigilance should be enhanced within 6 months after the onset of CwG.The age of initial onset was less than 18 months is risk factor for recurrence of CwG,so children with CwG should take preventive measures after the initial occurrence of CwG.CwG has a good prognosis and does not require excessive antiepileptic therapy.
