ObjectiveBy observing the curative effect of acupuncture combined with round sharp needle and ordinary needle on primary dysmenorrhea of Qi stagnation and blood stasis type and comparing the difference between the two therapeutic effects, this study was to further evaluate the effects of the acupuncture method using round sharp needle in primary dysmenorrhea with the type of Qi stagnation and blood stasis. Then we could explore the application of round sharp needle in the dysmenorrhea, which can provide a more convenient and effective treatment scheme for clinical treatment of primary dysmenorrhea.MethodsSixty-eight patients with primary dysmenorrhea of Qi stagnation and blood stasis in the outpatient department of acupuncture and gynecology from Foshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine Affiliated to Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine during Jan.2018 to Dec.2018 were randomly divided into the treatment group(n=34)and the control group(n=34).The treatment group accepted acupuncture combined with round sharp needle, while the control group accepted the normal acupuncture. The acupoints selected by the two groups were the same, but Ciliao acupoint(BL32)was treated with Round Sharp Needle in the treatment and was treated with ordinary acupuncture with filiform needle. Each group was treated one week before menstruation and each patient was treated every three days so that total two times treatment before menstruation. One menstrual cycle is a course of treatment.Every patient accepted for three consecutive courses of treatment.Through the statistical analysis of dysmenorrhea symptom score and TCM syndrome score before and after three courses of treatment in the two groups, the difference of curative effect between the two groups was compared.ResultsSixty-eight patients who met the inclusion criteria completed the course of treatment, and were followed up without any adverse reactions and abscission during the treatment. Before the treatment of both groups, there is no significant difference(P>0.05)amount age, illnesses, dysmenorrhea symptoms and TCM syndrome points, indicating that the two groups were comparable. After three courses of treatment, both the scores of dysmenorrhea symptoms and TCM syndromes in the two groups were lower than those before treatment and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),indicating that both groups had curative effect on primary dysmenorrhea of qi stagnation and blood stasis type.Meanwhile, the scores of dysmenorrhea symptoms and TCM syndromes after treatment in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05).It meaned that the the curative effect of treatment group is better than the control group, not only to improve symptoms but also to alleviate the constitution of syndromes. In the treatment group,4 cases were cured,15 cases were markedly effective,13 cases were effective and 2 cases were ineffective. The total effective rate was 94.12%.In the control group,0 cases were cured,5 cases were markedly effective,17 cases were effective and 12 cases were ineffective. The total effective rate was 64.71%.The total effective rate of the treatment group was significantly higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).ConclusionBoth acupuncture combined with round sharp needle and ordinary acupuncture have positive curative effect to the primary dysmenorrhea with the type of Qi stagnation and blood stasis, but comparing to normal acupuncture, the treatment of round sharp needle could make better treatment on reducing the symptoms and improving TCM syndrome constitution. Therefore,it can be concluded that the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea of Qi stagnation and blood stasis type by round sharp needle is effective, simple and safe, which is deserve promotion and popularized application.
