ObjectiveThe objective of this project is to observe the effect of moxibustion with warm needling at back-Shu points on the quality of life of patients diagnosed as cervical vertigo with upper phlegm, and find a traditional acupuncture-featured treatment with reliable efficiency and safety and less side effects for cervical vertigo with upper phlegm.MethodsBy using a prospective randomized controlled trial clinical study method,we selected 72 patients who met the inclusion criteria and did not meet the exclusion criteria.Patients who were treated at the Foshan Chinese Medicine Hospital Acupuncture Outpatient Clinic or Inpatient Department from April,2018 to January,2019.The patients were divided into two groups of equal numbers by means of completely randomized trial clinical study method as the treatment group(back-Shu points acupuncture group)and the control group(conventional electro-acupuncture group). The clinically selected points of the treatment group were bilateral Feishu,Xinshu,Pishu,Sanjiao and Shenshu on the first line of the bladder meridian, and treated with moxibustion with warm needling. The clinically selected points of the control group were mainly local acupoints on the neck, specifically Baihui, bilateral Fengchi,Tianzhu,Dazhu and Neck Ridge(C3,C4,C5),and were treated with electro-acupuncture.Treatment course:The above treatment is 5 times a week and 2 weeks in all. After the course of treatment, the two groups of patients were evaluated for total efficacy, and compared with the cervical vertigo symptom and function assessment scale(ESCV),neck pain scale(NPQ),and TCM symptom score scale. To evaluate the improvement of the quality of life of patients diagnosed as cervical vertigo with upper phlegm after the moxibustion with warm needlingtherapy.Results1.There were 7 cases in all lost in the research process, with 65 cases all available, which included 33 cases in the treatment group and 32 cases in the control group. Before the treatment, the general data(age, sex ratio, duration of illness)of the two groups of patients were statistically analyzed. The results showed no significant difference(P>0.05),which meant the two groups were comparable.2.Statistical analysis was performed on the total scores and sub-item scores of the two groups before treatment. The results showed no significant difference(P>0.05),which meant the two groups were comparable.3.The total scores of the scales and the sub-items of the two groups after treatment were compared with those before treatment. After statistical analysis, the results showed significant differences(P<0.05),indicating that the both treatments have a positive impact on cervical vertigo disease.4.The total clinical efficacy of the two groups were:the fully cured rate of the treatment group was 54.55%,and the fully cured rate of the control group was 25.00%.After statistical analysis, the fully cured rates of the two groups were significantly different.5.Statistical analysis of the total scores of ESCV after treatment in the two groups showed significant difference(P<0.05).There were significant differences in vertigo scores(P<0.05).There was a significant difference in daily life and work scores(P<0.05),and there was no significant difference in psychological and social adjustment scores(P>0.05).The neck pain symptoms and functional scores of the two groups measured after the course were compared. The results showed that there was no significant difference in the degree of neck pain(P>0.05).There was a significant difference in the duration of illness of neck pain(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in object carrying scores(P>0.05),and there was a significant difference in reading and watching TV scores(P<0.05).The TCM syndrome scores measured after the treatment in the two groups were compared, and the results showed significant differences(P<0.05).ConclusionBy analyzing the statistical results,it can be considered that both therapies have considerable curative effects on cervical vertigo with upper phlegm, and the effect of moxibustion with warm needling at back-Shu points is generally better, which improves dizziness, daily life and work, neck pain and duration, reading and watching TV experience, and TCM symptoms in particular.
