Objective(1)To explore the understanding of career development of nurses in child-bearing age,and to construct the conceptual framework of career development of nurses in child-bearing age.The ultimate goal is to provide theoretical basis for the study of career development of nurses in child-bearing age.(2)To develop and test the reliability and validity of the career development assessment scale for nurses of child-bearing age,and to provide tool support for evaluating the career development status of nurses in child-bearing age.MethodsPart 1——Study on conceptual framework(June 2017-September 2017)A total of 10 nurses in child-bearing age from comprehensive third-grade A-level hospital in Beijing were selected by purposive sampling.To explore the understanding of career development of nurses in child-bearing age by semi-structured interview.Used the data analysis principle of grounded theory to encode and extract the theme from the interview text,and developed the conceptual framework of nurses career development in child-bearing age.Part 2——Construction of the scale(0ctober 2017-May 2018)(1)Establishment of scale item pool: based on the literature review and the semi-structured interview results of the previous part,the scale item pool of nurses career development scale in child-bearing age was established.(2)Preliminary draft of the scale: six nursing experts were selected to evaluate the content of the scale for two rounds.According to the correlation between the content of the items and the career development of nurses,the experts scored the items.According to the experts' written opinions,the language statement of the preliminary draft of the scale was modified to form a pre-survey questionnaire.(3)Final draft of the scale: 341 nurses of child-bearing age in a comprehensive third-grade A-level hospital were investigated by convenience sampling and pre-questionnaire.After the reverse scoring questions were transposed,the SPSS 22.0statistical software was used to screen the scale items.After correlation coefficient analysis,discrimination analysis,internal consistency test and exploratory factor analysis,reliability and validity test,the formal scale was developed.ResultsPart 1 — — The conceptual framework of nurses career development in child-bearing age mainly includes a core category "the process of the interaction between internal motivation and external environment ",three main categories(career development motivation,job involvement and career development environment),and eight sub-categories(career identity,family orientation,career development intention,time investment,energy investment,leadership support and organizational support).mainly includes three themes: career development motivation,career engagement and career development environment.Part 2 — — The literature review and semi-structured interview initially formed three dimensions,with a total of 53 entries.After two rounds of expert evaluation,a total of 18 items were deleted,9 items were added,7 of them were merged into 3 items,and the statement expression of 6 items was modified,a pre-experiment questionnaire with 40 items in 3 dimensions was developed,and the I-CVI>0.78 and S-CVI was 0.99 for all items.Through preliminary experiments,the correlation coefficient method,critical ratio method and internal consistency reliability method were used to screen items,a total of 5 items were deleted.Exploratory factor analysis was carried out on the remaining 35 items after the project analysis.Finally,a tool for evaluating the career development of nurses in childbearing age was formed,which included 3 common factors and 34 items.The cumulative variance contribution rate was 73.77%.The level content validity index(S-CVI)of the total scale was 0.99,and the level content validity index of the items(I-CVI)was 0.83-1.The Cronbach's ? coefficient of each factor was0.908,0.958 and 0.973,respectively.The retest reliability of the total scale was 0.942,and the retest reliability of each factor was 0.579,0.820 and 0.844.ConclusionExtracted conceptual framework is consistent with the theory of career development and the theory of career construction.At the same time,it has the characteristics of nurses career development in childbearing age.The scale of career development for nurses of childbearing age showed good reliability and validity.The results of this study can provide theoretical support and tool support for the further investigation of the current situation of nurses career development and intervention research.
