Objective: Taking J Hospital,a public hospital in Guangxi as a case, this study focused on the structural changes of health human resources of the hospital, and the correlation between health human resources structure and medical service quantity,so as to provide suggestions for optimizing the health human resource structure for public hospitals. Methods: This study collected relevant data of 6 years(from the year 2013 to 2018)of health human resources and medical service quantity from the Human Resources Department and the Statistics Office of J Hospital, and analyzed the data using the methods of literature research, case analysis, descriptive statistics, structural variation analysis and Pearson correlation analysis.1)The method of literature research was used to figure out the theoretical basis, defined related concepts, and selected relevant indicators.2)The method of case analysis was used to take J Hospital,a public hospital in Guangxi as an example so as to analyze the structural changes of the hospital's health human resources, and seek for the reasons of the changes andtried to make conclusions to provide suggestions for upgrading the hospital's human resources.3)The method of descriptive statistics was used to analyze the number, composition, growth rate, and annualized growth rate of the health human resources structure of J Hospital based on the data of gender, age, educational background, occupational category and professional title during 2013 to 2018.This method was carried out to descriptively analyze the medical service quantity and the ring growth rate of the hospital from 2013 to 2018 from three criteria, the number of outpatients and emergent patients, the number of operations, and the number of discharges.4)The method of structural variation analysis was used to analyze the changes of human resource structure in J Hospital from five dimensions, gender, age, educational background, occupational category and professional title so as to find the key category indicators in each dimension for further analysis.5)The Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between the key category indicators of the hospital's human resource structure and the medical service volume indicators. Results: 1)In terms of human resources structure, the total number of employees of the hospital increased from 954 to 1479 in the past six years. From the perspective of sequential growth, the growth rate slowed down in recent years. In terms of gender structure, the average sex ratio between men and women was 1:2.56.The gender structure change was 1.46% with the male structural change value having been negatively changed. The structural change of age was 15.99%,with less than 25 years old being a negative change and25-34 years old being a positive change. The education background structure change was 36.07%,with the change of undergraduate category being positivewhile the change of junior college category being negative. The occupational category structure change was 6.32%,with the number of technicians having been changed positively, the number of working and maintenance personnel having been changed negatively. The change of professional title structure was5.71%.The number of staff members without a professional title had changed negatively while the number of staff members with a middle-level professional title having been changed positively.Among all the changes, the change of educational background was the greatest while the gender was the least.2)In terms of the quantity of medical services, the number of emergency visits, surgical patients, and discharged patients had been increased year by year.Among them, the average annual growth rate of surgery was 64.23%,being the rapidest. The average annual growth rate of discharged patients was 8.75%,being the slowest. From the perspective of the sequential growth, the overall growth rate of emergency medical treatment in 2013-2018 showed a downward trend. The growth rate of surgical people increased firstly and then decreased. The growth rate of discharged patients showed a small fluctuation.3)Pearson correlation analysis for key categories of health human resources structure and medical service quantity indicators showed that the correlation coefficients between the number of male employees, the number of staff members with bachelor's degrees, the number of staff members with master's degrees, the number of physicians, the number of technicians, the number of staff members with intermediate and senior titles in the health series, and the number of outpatients and inpatients were 0.975,0.992,0.999,0.983,0.969,0.959 and 0.977,respectively(P<0.05);the correlation coefficients with the number of patients were 0.914,0.923,0.905,0.967,0.975,0.885and0.964,respectively(P<0.05);the correlation coefficients with discharged patients were 0.972,0.985,0.976,0.893,0.975,0.929 and 0.994,respectively(P < 0.05).Conclusion: 1)The gender ratio was imbalanced with the ratio of female employees being higher than that of males.2)The trend of youthfulness of health human resources was obvious, and there was a relative lack of high-level talents.3)The ratio of the numbers of staff members with high education background had been increased year by year.4)There were relatively insufficient staff members with high-ranking titles, and the structure of professional titles was not reasonable.5)The medical service quantity increased greatly.6)Part of key indexes of health human resource structure were positively correlated with the indexes of medical service quantity.Suggestions: 1)Continue to optimize the ratio of highly educated personnel.2)Reasonable allocation of occupational category structure is needed.3)Encourage medical staff to promote their titles.4)Pay attention to the training of various talents in the hospital.5)Strengthen the hospital's management and improve the employment system.
