Research backgroundWith the increasingly competitive society,people tend to produce different degrees of depression and may suffer from depressive disorder if not timely intervention,which brings great harm to the individuals.Nursing students in secondary vocational schools are at the important stage of life development,the big pressures of both study and "not-good" future employment expectation are easy to produce depression and other bad emotions.Depression has a great impact on the study and life of secondary vocational nursing students,which affects their all-round development.Therefore,this study is practical and meaningful.ObjectiveThrough the questionnaire survey on the status of depression of secondary nursing students in Huaibei City,analyzing its influencing factors and proposing relevant countermeasures,and to provide health education and promotion for vocational schools,and to provide reference for the healthy growth and development of secondary nursing students.Materials and MethodsA questionnaire survey was conducted among vocational nursing students in Huaibei City by cluster sampling,and 1015 questionnaires were retrieved,of which 972 were valid and the validity rate of the questionnaire was 95.8%.The survey included self-made general situation questionnaire and self-rating depression scale(SDS).The general situation questionnaire included gender,age,grade,academic achievement,learning pressure,school life feeling,etc.The database was established using SPSS 21.0 software and statistical analysis was carried out to study the status of depression and related influencing factors of secondary nursing students.ResultsAmong 972 secondary vocational nursing students,male students accounted for 10.2%,female students accounted for 89.8%;first-grade nursing students accounted for 42.8%,second-grade students accounted for 29.9%,and third-grade students accounted for 27.3%;nursing students aged 15 and below accounted for 14.9%,nursing students at 16 years old accounted for 28.5%,nursing students at 17 years old accounted for 32.0%,nursing students aged 18 and above accounted for 24.6%;urban nursing students accounted for 18.8%;rural nursing students accounted for 81.2%.The average score of depression among secondary vocational nursing students was 52.1±8.7,the number of depression positive detection was 442,and the detection rate of depression was 45.5%.Among 442 secondary vocational nursing students with depression,79.9%were mild depression,17.7%were moderate depression,and only 2.5%were severe depression,indicating that secondary nursing students were mainly mild depression.The depression score of female students was 52.3±8.6 and the detection rate of depression was 46.2%higher than that of male students;the depression score of secondary vocational nursing students in grade 2 was 53.1±8.5 and the detection rate of depression was 49.8%higher than that of grade 1 and grade 3;the depression score of secondary vocational nursing students aged 15 and below was 52.2±8.7 and the detection rate of depression was 49.7%higher than that of other ages;the depression score of rural secondary vocational nursing students was 52.3±8.8 and the detection rate of depression was 46.3%higher than that of urban nursing students.Family economic conditions are generally low,non-only children,school expectations are indifferent,learning and life feel monotonous,poor relationship with classmates,love objects,lack of interest in the course,high learning pressure,poor academic performance,dislike of teaching methods,high pressure on graduation employment,non-participation in community activities,frequent insomnia,non-exercise secondary vocational nursing students' depression scores and detection rate of depression was higher than that of other secondary vocational nursing students.Multivariate analysis showed that grade,learning stress,average grade of study,life experience,relationship between students,and quality of sleep were the influencing factors of depression in secondary vocational nursing students.Conclusions and RecommendationsThe incidence of mild depression symptom was higher among secondary vocational nursing students in Huaibei City,and there was also a certain proportion of moderate and severe depression symptom.The factors affecting depression of secondary vocational nursing students are multifaceted and comprehensive,including individual factors,family conditions,school environment and so on.Accordingly,the following suggestions are put forward:all sectors of society should attach importance to the employment of secondary vocational nursing students and actively expand employment channels;strengthen the construction of healthy campus and counselorsto improve the management level of secondary vocational schools;schools should attach great importance to the mental health education of secondary vocational nursing students and create a colorful and positive learning environment;parents should pay attention to the psychological changes of children and strengthencommunication;secondary vocational nursing students should establish a correct world outlook,love outlook,values and outlook on life,accurately locate,actively participate in various activities,and improve their overall quality.
