Objective: To analyze the clinical characteristics of 137 cases of tuberculosis in children in Xinjiang. To detect the concentration of IL-9 in childhood tuberculosis and to explore it's clinical significance. Methods: 137 patients with tuberculosis were divided into 74 cases of pulmonary tuberculosis(PTB)group and 63 cases of extra pulmonary tuberculosis(EPTB)group.48 healthy children were selected as the healthy control group. The clinical characteristics of 137 cases of tuberculosis in children in Xinjiang were analyzed.Detecting their peripheral blood cells IL-9 concentration by ELISA.Results: 1.Clinical characteristics of 137 children with tuberculosis in Xinjiang: Male:female 1.69:1.Mean age 6.06±4.14 years.Uygur 72.99%.The patients from the county level and below were 82.02%.Tuberculosis exposure history was 34.31%.Common onset symptoms were fever 77.37%,cough 62.77% and fatigue 62.77%.Extrapulmonary tuberculosis was45.99%,of which tuberculous meningitis was 57.14%.T-spot positive rate was 82.44%.Chest imaging changes were more common with patch and/or high density shadow of30.47%.2.Concentration of IL-9 in different objects: The concentration of IL-9 in childhood tuberculosis(130.36±40.01 pg/ml)was significantly higher than that of healthy control group(75.53±15.70 pg/ml)(P<0.01).The concentration of IL-9 in PTB group(139.13±42.62 pg/ml)and EPTB group(120.06±34.25 pg/ml)was significantly higher than that of healthy control group(P<0.01),and the TB group was higher than the EPTB group(P<0.05).Conclusion: 1.Clinical characteristics of 137 children with tuberculosis in Xinjiang: Males are more than females,Uygurs and Kazakhs are more than other ethnic groups, more cases in southern Xinjiang, common symptoms are fever, cough and fatigue lack of specificity, heavy tuberculosis, poor laboratory testing.Providing clinical characteristics of children with tuberculosis to clinicians,to deepen the awareness of medical staff on tuberculosis in children to improve the clinical diagnosis and treatment oftuberculosis in children.2.The concentration of IL-9 in children with tuberculosis is significantly higher than that of healthy children. The concentration of IL-9 in pulmonary tuberculosis patients is higher than that of extra pulmonary tuberculosis patients. It is speculate that IL-9 may be a bio-marker for early diagnosis of tuberculosis in children.
