Clinical Observation On Treatment Of Elderly Patients With Knee Osteoarthritis By Moxibustion At Renmai Point Combined With Acupuncture

Objective: The elderly patients with knee osteoarthritis who were selected from Jilin Province traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital were treated with moxibustion combined with acupuncture and simple acupuncture respectively,and the pain and stiffness caused by the disease were compared and observed between the two treatment methods.The improvement of joint function and quality of life was evaluated objectively in order to evaluate the safety,effectiveness and extensibility of acupuncture combined with moxibustion at Renmai point in the treatment of this disease.Methods: The patients were randomly divided into treatment group(n = 31)and control group(n = 34)through strict case selection.The two groups were treated with moxibustion combined with acupuncture and acupuncture alone for four courses of treatment.The patients were divided into two groups: treatment group(n = 31)and control group(n = 34).According to the scores of VAS,WOMAC,JOA before and after treatment,the patients' pain,stiffness,joint function and quality of life were observed.SPSS 17.0software was used for statistical processing,and the difference of curative effect between the two methods was evaluated.Results: 1.There was no difference in basic information(age,course of disease,etc.)between the two groups(P > 0.05).2.Comparison of two groups before treatment:There was no statistical significance among the three scales(P > 0.05).3.Comparison of intra-group treatment before and after treatment:There was a significant difference in the scores between the two treatment methods,which indicated that the two treatment methods could effectively treat elderly KOA.(P < 0 05).4.Comparison between two groups after treatment:There was significant difference in VAS score(P < 0 05).There was significant difference in pain and joint function between two groups in WOMAC(P < 0 05),but there was no difference in stiffness(P > 0 05).The results showed that the treatment group was stronger than the control group in relieving pain and improving joint function.The difference between before and after treatment with JOA scale showed that the degree of improvementof joint dysfunction in the treatment group was greater than that in the control group,and the quality of life of the patients could be improved to a greater extent than that of the control group.5.Overall efficacy:The total effective rate of the treatment group was 93.55%higher than that of the control group(87.88%),and there was a difference between the two groups(P < 0.05).The overall curative effect of the treatment group was better than that of the control group.Conclusion: 1.In the treatment of knee osteoarthritis in the elderly,the two groups of treatment schemes can achieve a better curative effect.2.The application of moxibustion Renmai point combined with acupuncture in the treatment of this disease can more obviously alleviate the pain of patients,improve joint function and quality of life.3.Moxibustion at Renmai point combined with acupuncture is effective in the treatment of senile knee bony joints,and it is worth popularizing and applying in clinical practice.
