Objective:By observing the therapeutic effect of herbal-mud moxibustion combined with acupuncture on cold-dampness type knee osteoarthritis,to explore the advantages of herbal-mud-moxibustion combined with acupuncture in the treatment of cold-dampness type knee osteoarthritis,so as to provide clinical basis for multi-method combined treatment. Methods:A total of 58 patients with cold-dampness type knee osteoarthritis from Shanxi Acupuncture and moxibustion hospital were randomly divided into treatment group(n = 29)and control group(n = 29).There were 28 patients in both groups. The treatment group was treated with herbal-mud-moxibustion combined with acupuncture for 4 weeks, while the control group was treated with acupuncture only 5times a week for 4 weeks. After treatment, the VAS score,WOMAC score, range of motion of knee joint, depth of suprapatellar bursa effusion and clinical efficacy of the two groups before and after treatment were evaluated and analyzed.Results:(1)comparison of total clinical efficacy:the symptoms of the two groups were improved after treatment, and the total effective rate of the treatment group was89.29%,while that of the control group was 71.43%.The results of rank sum test showed that the difference between the two groups was statistically significant, that is,the effective rate of the treatment group was significantly higher than that of the control group, indicating that herbal-mud moxibustion combined with acupuncture can improve the therapeutic effect.(2)comparison of baseline data: a total of 58 patients with cold-dampness type knee osteoarthritis were included in this study,1 case fell out in each group during the study, and 28 cases were collected in each group. After the case collection was completed, there was no significant difference in age, sex, course of disease and X-ray grade between the two groups.(3)comparison between groups:there was no significant difference in VAS score,WOMAC score, range of motion of knee joint and depth of suprapatellar bursa effusion between the two groups before treatment. After 4 weeks of treatment, there were significant differences in VAS score,WOMAC score, range of motion of knee joint and depth of suprapatellar bursa effusion between the control group and the treatment group, indicating that the curative effect of herbal-mud moxibustion combined with acupuncture was better than that of acupuncture only.(4)intra-group comparison:there were significant differences in VAS score,WOMAC score, range of motion of knee joint and depth of suprapatellar bursa effusion in the treatment group before and after treatment, indicating that herbal-mud moxibustion combined with acupuncture is helpful to improve the symptoms and signs of patients with knee osteoarthritis. There were also significant differences in VAS score,WOMAC score, range of motion of knee joint and depth of suprapatellar bursa in the control group before and after treatment, indicating that acupuncture alone can also improve the symptoms and signs of patients, but the comparison is worse than that of the treatment group.Conclusion:(1)Herbal-mud moxibustion combined with acupuncture and acupuncture alone can relieve the clinical symptoms of patients with knee osteoarthritis.(2)herbal-mud moxibustion combined with acupuncture treatment is superior to just acupuncture treatment in reducing the pain, swelling, dysfunction and other symptoms.
