Application Of Surgicel For Hemostasis After Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery

Objective: Surgicel which is the kind of medical polymer biodegradable material has good biocompatibility.To investigate the hemostatic effect of Surgicel in nasal endoscopic sinus surgery.Method: A total of 120 chronic rhinosiunsitis with or without nasal polys patients in our hospital undergone bilateral functional endoscopic sinus surgery were recruited,including 88 male patients and 32 female patients.The age range is from 19 to 75,the median age is 45.5.The course of the disease is 1 months to 30 years,with an average of 7.6 years.Of which 78 cases of CRSwNP,42 cases of CRSsNP,9 cases with nasal septum deviation.Patients with anaphylactic rhinitis and patients with nasal sinus surgery are eliminated.In accordance with various nasal packing materials in operation,patients were divided into Surgicel group(64)and Vaseline gauze group(56).The total amount of bleeding was compared between the two groups after the functional endoscopic sinus surgery and the extraction of nasal packing.The recovery of nasal mucosa after4,7,10,14 days was compared between the two groups.The visual analogue scale scores of two packing materials after nasal endoscopic surgery,nasal congestion,nasal congestion and compression,nasal pain irritability,and tears were compared.Results: There were 120 patients in this study,56 cases of simple Vaseline gauze group and 64 cases of Surgicel.There was no statistical difference between the two groups in age,sex and disease type.1.The amount of bleeding in Surgicel group was less than that of Vaseline gauze after the functional endoscopic sinus surgery and the extraction of nasal packing,Z=–2.51,p<0.05;2.The recovery of nasal mucosa edema and inflammatory reaction after 4,7,10,14 days were better than those of Vaseline gauze;3.The postoperative VAS symptoms score regarding nasal congestion,nasal congestion and compression,nasal pain irritability,and tears in filling period of nasal cavity were significantly better than those in the other group(p<0.05).Conclusion: Surgicel is applied to the yarn hemostatic effect of endoscopic nasal sinus surgery is effective and good biocompatibility,nasal mucosa irritation,packing and the patient is less responsive.Surgicel is worth popularizing and applying.
