Objective:In this study, the incidence of postural hypotension was analyzed in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with carotid intima-media thickness,in order to understand the correlation between postural hypotension and carotid intima-media thickness in type 2 diabetes. The effects of age, duration of diabetes mellitus,C-peptide(CP),glycosylated hemoglobin(Hb A1c),blood lipids, and other risk factors on carotid intima-media thickness were also analyzed in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitusMethods:A retrospective study of 293 inpatients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, according to carotid intima-media thicness(CIMT),the subjects were divided into 3 groups,CIMT <1.0mm,normal intima, echo evenly for the T1 group,1.0mm?CIMT<1.5 mm,limitations of the intima thickening, echo enhancement, luminal rules for the T2 group,CIMT ?1.5mm with or without calcified stenosis in the T3 group. To compare the incidence of hypotension hypotension among groups and the differences in age, sex, body mass index, diabetes duration, fasting C-peptide levels,Hb A1 c levels, and blood lipids between groups.Spearman correlation analysis method was used to study CIMT related influencing factors. The difference was statistically significant at P<0.05.Results:1.The overall incidence of postural hypotension was 32.76% in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The incidence of postural hypotension was 18.18% in the T1 group(n=99),32.65% in the T2 group(n=98),and 47.91% in the T3 group(n=96).Incidence between the groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).2.The correlation analysis between CIMT and the influencing factor Spearman suggests that CIMT and age, diabetes duration,Hb A1 c level, total cholesterol(TC)level, triglyceride(TG)level, low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)Levels and apolipoprotein B(Apo B)level were positively correlated(P<0.05),with fasting C-peptide(CP)levels,high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)levels and apolipoprotein A1(ApoA1)levels were negatively correlated(P<0.05).Conclution:Postural hypotension has a relatively high prevalence among people with type 2 diabetes, and CIMT has an effect on it.With CIMT thickening, the risk of postural hypotension increases. The regulation of CIMT related risk factors can help prevent carotid artery-intima-media thickness, thereby reducing the risk of postural hypotension in patients with type 2 diabetes.
