ObjectiveTo propose a non-dimensional index, Carotid Elasticity Transmission index (CETI), to explore the Correlation between carotid elasticity transmission index and Intima-media Thickness of the Carotid Artery in type 2 diabetes mellitus and CETI's value of clinical application.Methods24 cases of healthy health adult and 38 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were collected. We detect blood flow velocity of left middle cerebral artery (MCA), basilar artery (BA), internal carotid artery (ICA) , carotid carotid artery (CCA) and Intima-media Thickness of the Carotid Artery(CIMT)with TCD and difunctionality color Doppler, Their pulsatility index (PI) was calculated. The formulars we deduced carotid elasticity transmission index of MCA, ICA, BA were: CETI1 = PIMCA / PICCA, CETI2 = PIICA / PICCA, CETI3 = PIBA / PICCA, and we use multiple stepwise regression, correlation and regression, analysis of variance and t test for statistical analysis .Results1, Analysis of variance about CETI and PI of any two ones in four groups: There were significant diference between the group of CIMT> 1.0mm and each group of CIMT≤1.0mm ; There were significant diference between the group of CIMT≤0.7mm and two groups of 0.7mm ~ 1.0mm in CETI1 (P <0.05), and there wasn't significant diference between the three groups CIMT <1.0mm in CETI2 and CETI3.2, The correlation between CETI1, CETI2, and CETI3 and CIMT were curvilinear relationship (quadratic curve), Y1 = 0.880-0.209X-0.083X 2, Y2 = 0.621 +0.512 X-0.491X 2, Y3 = 0.686 +0.269 X- 0.355X 2, R1 2 = 0.539; R22 = 0.514; R32 = 0.523.3, LDL-C were all the independent risk factors of carotid elasticity transmission index and Intima-media Thickness of the Carotid Artery, smoking to CETI1, fasting blood glucose and age to CETI3 also have an impact.Conclusion1,CETI can be expected to be a evaluation index to reflect the elasticity reserve of cerebral conducting arteries in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.2,LDL-C were the independent risk factors of carotid elasticity transmission index and Intima-media Thickness of the Carotid Artery.
