Clinical Study And Mechanism Exploration Of Jin Jing Lotion For Treating Atopic Dermatitis

ObjectivesThe research was designed to investigate the clinical efficacy of Jin Jing lotion in the treatment of atopic dermatitis and its effect on skin barrier function,and aimed to explore the possible mechanism.MethodsThe left upper limb or lower limb with typical lesion was selected as the treatment group while the other side as the control group.The treatment group were given with the Jin Jing lotion to wash or wet compress,15 minutes/time,1 time/day,and both of the control group and treatment group used the same emollient therapy and herbal oral administration according to the“hilling and clearing away heart-fire" theory for 2 weeks.The severity score,EASI score,VAS score and quality of life score were recorded and the skin water loss,skin moisture and PH were measured by MPA580 skin elasticity meter at 0,7 and 14 days respectively.ResultsThere were 25 patients completed the study.The age distribution was 6-27 years.The shortest course of the disease was 4.25 years while the longest was 27 years.The results showed that the difference of the severity score of the two groups after treatment was statistically significant(P<0.01 or P<0.05),and the difference of integral D-value between the two groups was also statistically significant(P<0.01).In different types of skin lesions,the scores of erythema,papule/edema,exudation and bryophyte skin lesions were statistically significant(P<0.01 or P<0.05),and there was no significant difference in the score of dry and desquamative skin lesions(P>0.05).Erythema,papules/edema and exudation are often seen in the acute stage,while moss change,drying and desquamation are often seen in the chronic stage.Therefore,the improvement of the skin lesions in the acute phase may be better than the chronic stage after treatment of Jin Jing lotion.In the secondary observation index which included the EASI score,pruritus score,insomnia score and quality of life score were all compared before and after treatment,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01 or P<0.05).The changes of skin water loss,keratinocyte water content and PH value of the skin were measured with the MPA580 skin elastic measuring instrument.The statistical results showed that there was no significant difference in the water content and PH value of the cuticle in two groups after treatment(P>0.05),and the difference of the transdermal loss of water was statistically significant(P<0.05).ConclusionWashing or wet compressing by Jing Jin lotion for atopic dermatitis was effective and he effect of acute phase skin lesion is better than that of chronic phase skin lesions.It could improve the condition of disease and improve the quality of life,which was also high safety.According to the results of skin measurement,repairing of the function of the skin barrier could be one of the main mechanisms of treating atopic dermatitis with Jin Jing lotion.
