Objective: This study took main comprehensive edge-needle therapy as treatment group, and took cupping and bloodletting combined with hot therapy of traditional Chinese medicine as control group to observe and compare the therapeutic effects of these two treatments on lumbar muscle strain,in order to provide patients with therapeutic measures with good curative effect, short course of treatment and low recurrence rate, and provide reference for the clinical treatment of the disease. Methods: According to the order of first visit,66 patients with lumbar muscle strain who met the diagnostic criteria and inclusion criteria were numbered and randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group by random number table, with 33 patients in each group. The treatment group adopted comprehensive edge-needle therapy,i.e.lancet loose solution as well as cupping and bloodletting combined with hot therapy of traditional Chinese medicine;the selected acupuncture points were Ashi point,Weizhong point and so on,and lancet loose solution and cupping and bloodletting were performed once a week for 3 consecutive weeks;the hot therapy of traditional Chinese medicine was used once a day,5 times a week, rest for 2 days, which was continued for 3 consecutive weeks. The control group only used cupping and bloodletting combined with hot therapy of traditional Chinese medicine;the selected sterile needle was used to prick the affected part, and thencupping therapy was adopted;the remaining methods in control group were the same as those in treatment group.3 weeks was a course of treatment. The clinical efficacies of the two groups were observed after 1 course of treatment.Theefficacies were evaluated according to VAS score, lumbar activity score and Oswestry dysfunction index score for the two groups before and after treatment.Statistical analysis was performed on the collected data using statistical software SPSS21.0.Results:(1)A total of 66 patients were collected clinically.2 patients gave up and 1 patient was removed in the course of treatment, with the expulsion rate of 4.5%.The actual number of participated patients was 63,in whichthere were 32 patientsin treatment group and 31 patients in control group.(2)The differences between treatment group and control group in general data such as gender, age, and course of disease had been compared before treatment,p>0.05,suggesting that the differences were not statistically significant and comparable.(3)The total effective rate was 93.75% in treatment group and 77.42% in control group after treatment,p<0.05,indicating that the differences were statistically significant and the clinical efficacy in treatment group was better than that in control group.(4)The comparisons between the two groups showed that the VAS score, lumbar activity scale score and Oswestry dysfunction index score in treatment group were lower than those in control group(p<0.05),and showed that both groups had obvious therapeutic effect in pain relief, improvement of lumbar activity(proneness, rear protraction, lateral flexion and turning),reduction of lumbar dysfunction(intensity of pain, activities of daily living, lifting, walking, sitting, standing, disturbing sleep, sexual life, social life and tourism),etc.;however, the group that took comprehensive edge-needle therapy was better than the group that took the cupping and bloodletting combined with hot treatment of traditional Chinese medicine on the efficacies in all aspects.(5)In treatment group, the VAS score, lumbar activity score and Oswestry dysfunction index score during the follow-up period were compared with those after treatment(p>0.05),the results of which showed the values of theobserved indexes during the follow-up period was not significantly different from those after treatmentand also showed that the treatment group had higher efficacy stability and lower recurrence rate.In control group, the VAS score, lumbar activity score and Oswestry dysfunction index score during the follow-up period were compared with those after treatment(p<0.05),the results of which showed the values of the observed indexes of the control group during the follow-up period was significantly different from those after treatment and also showed that the controlgroup had poor efficacy stability and a certain recurrence.Conclusions:(1)Both comprehensive edge-needle therapy(treatment group)and cupping(and)bloodletting combined with hot therapy of traditional Chinese medicine(control group)had certain therapeutic effect on lumbar muscle strain, but the total effective rate of the treatment group was significantly higher than that of the control group.(2)For the patients with lumbar muscle strain, comprehensive edge-needle therapy in treatment group was superior to cupping bloodletting combined with hot therapy of traditional Chinese medicine in control group in terms of reducing lumbar pain, increasing lumbar range of motion, improving lumbar dysfunction and reducing recurrence rate, which owned simple operation and exact efficacy, and was suitable for clinical promotion and application.
