Objectives:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of probiotics in synergistic blood pressure lowering, improving blood lipid and blood glucose levels who have been treated with conventional drugs after diagnosed hypertension. Methods:The present study was a prospective, observational study. From April2017 to September 2017,a total of 40 hypertensive paitents who have accepted long-term conventional drugs were enrolled from outpatient and inpatient of department of cardiology in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University. To maintain the original scheme,we began to add probiotics(Bifidobacter ium,Lactobacillus acidophilus,Enterococcus(29)1*10^7 CFU)420mg,2 times a day,for12 weeks. After 4 weeks,8 weeks and 12 weeks, the clinical events were recorded. The biochemical indicators such as TC,TG,LDL,HDL,UA and HbA1 c were reexamined after 4 and 12 weeks, and 24 hABPM was measured after 12 weeks. Results:During the study,4 patients withdrew and 36 were followed up.Systolic blood pressure(SBP),total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG)decreased significantly after the intervention of 12 weeks(P<0.05,P<0.01,P<0.01).Low density lipoprotein(LDL),high-density lipoprotein(HDL),uric acid(UA)and glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c)were all lower than baseline level, but there was no statistical difference. The beginning of SBP of 24 hABPM was 135.5±8.6mmHg,DBP was 83.8±6.7mmHg,after the intervention,SBP was 131.5 ± 7.1mmHg,DBP was 81.8 ± 5.8mmHg.Compared to the baseline,SBP decreased 4.1mmHg and DBP decreased 1.9mmHg.In addition, compared to the baseline levels TC were decreased 0.29mmol/L(P<0.05,4 week),0.52mmol/L(P<0.01,12 week)and TG were decreased 0.40mmol/L(P<0.05,4 week),0.66mmol/L(P<0.01,12 week).Only 1 patients had more frequent defecation, and no cases were terminated because of adverse events such as gastrointestinal reactions and allergic reactions, and the safety of probiotics was safe and reliable. Conclusion:Variables including SBP,TC and TG changed beneficially between groups,it seem that conventional drugs plus probiotics may help treatment of hypertensive with metabolic syndrome.
