As a serious mental disorder, schizophrenia is generally found among 15 years old to 35 years old.The prevalence rate of schizophrenia among adults is about 0.7%.Currently,the antipsychotic therapy is a major treatment plan for schizophrenia. However, the purely biological treatment has many shortages, such as insight impairment and poor medication compliance. All these are problems impeding regular medication of patients, thus leading to repeated attacks of the disease, hindering patients' return to society and causing a huge burden on the family and society.Nowadays, based on medication, many researchers have turned to the comprehensive intervention models, such as social skill training,as an intervention treatment for schizophrenics, attempting to achieve favorable prognosis. However, most research objects are schizophrenics in the stable stage, with few reports related to curative effect of intervention on schizophrenics in the acute stage.Besides, families of schizophrenics are often excluded from the intervention process, but families are responsible for major care and supervision of these patients. In view of the above research status, the group work method was adopted.Through social skill training, schizophrenics in the acute stage and their family members were paired up for the intervention process. The influence of social skill training on curative effect of schizophrenics in the acute stage was analyzed based on Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale(PANSS),Drug Altitude Inventory(DAI),the Personal and Social Performance Scale(PSP)and Schedule for Assessing Insight(SAI).60 cases of schizophrenics from Guangzhou Brain Hospital were adopted as research objects, and randomly divided into the control group and the experimental group. The control group just received the conventional treatment;while the experimental group received social skill training based on the conventional treatment.A baseline,three-month and six-month assessment results of the two groups of patients were shown as follows:(1)After the intervention, patients in both groups were significantly different in terms of positive and negative symptoms, general pathological symptoms,PANSS total scores, personal and social performance, insight and attitude towards medication;(2)Comparison of the control group and the experimental group in terms of their positive symptoms, general pathological symptoms and PANSS total scores showed that there was no significant difference between them. The improvement of negative symptoms of the experimental group in the six month of the follow-up visit was superior to that of the control group.(3)After the social skill training, the total scores of personal and social performance of patients in the experimental group in all follow-up visit points were superior to those of the control group.Improvement of the experimental group in terms of PSP subscales, namely individual and social relationship subscale,self-scare subscale, interference and attach behavior subscale, was better than that of the control group. However, the improvement difference between the two groups in terms of the social intentional activity subscale was not statistically significant.(4)The experimental group achieved more significant improvement in terms of overall insight level compared with the control group. The former was significantly superior to the latter in all follow-up visit points in terms of the disease awareness subscale and the psychotic symptoms subscale.Improvement of "treatment compliance" in the third month of the follow-up visit showed a significant difference between the two groups, but the significant difference disappeared in the sixth month of the follow-up visit.(5)Improvement of the experimental group and the control group in terms of attitude towards medication was not significantly different on any follow-up visit point. To sum up,based on medication, social skill training by group work could efficiently improve psychiatric symptoms, medication compliance, insight level recovery and social performance of patients, and contribute to their returning to society.
