Objective: To retrospective analyze the clinical and characteristics of ulcerative colitis in patients older than 60 years of age in our hospital over the past five years.Comparison between elderly cases and young cases in gender, clinical symptoms, complications, parenteral performance, colonoscopy, clinical type, severity of disease, range of treatment and so on.Provided a further basis to diagnosis and treatment for the elderly ulcerative colitis clinical.Method: Using retrospective analysis method to analyze 389 cases that confirmed with ulcerative colitis in the First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University from January 2011 to December 2015 hospital, analyzing their clinical features, and comparing the elderly cases(60)with UC and the elderly cases(18 and 59)with UC whether there is a difference between.Through descriptive method to describe the clinical features of UC cases overall, and analyze the differences may exist between the elderly group and youth group in clinical symptoms, complications, parenteral performance, colonoscopy, clinical types, degree of disease and pathology of the scope, and the treatment and so on.Using SPSS17 software to process and analyze this data.Results:1.The patients with UC: the elderly group of 121 cases(31.1%),40 cases were male,34 cases were female,Male: Female=1.18,47 cases attacked at the age of 60,74 cases attacked after the of age 60;Young group have 268 cases(68.9%),145 cases were male,123 patients were female,Male: Female=1.18:1.Comparison between the two groups showed no obvious significance(P>0.05).2.The main clinical manifestations in both groups are abdominal pain, diarrhea, blood stools. There were no significant difference in clinical presentations in both groups. But abdominal distention was more common in the elderly group and mucus stool was more common in the youth group(P<0.05).3.Clinical types: In elderly group,81 cases were chronic recurrent type and 40 cases were initial type.In youth group,176 cases were chronic recurrent type and 92 cases were initial type.Look from the clinical types. There was no statistically significant difference in the two groups of UC patients.4.Scope of lesion and severity of disease: There was no statistically significant difference in the two groups.Scope of lesion have positive correlation with disease severity, the more wider range of diseases, the heavier disease(P<0.05).5.Extraintestinal manifestations and complications: there was no statistically significant difference in the two groups of UC patients.6.The course: The elderly group: 32 cases' courses were less than 1 year,67 cases found in 1 to 10 years of course,22 cases were found in course over 10 years;the youth group: 98 cases' courses were less than 1 year,102 cases found in 1 to 10 years of course,68 cases were found in course over 10 years, there was no significant difference between the two groups.7.All patients of UC's performance under colonoscopy is priority to diffuse distribution, mucosal hyperemia, edema, mucosal erosion, superficial ulcer;such as pseudo polyps, narrow lumen is relatively rare.Comparison between the two groups showed no statistical significance.8.The main medicine of the elderly UC patients taken are 5-ASA drugs and glucosteroids, most of them can be alleviated.Treatment of the elderly group has no obvious difference compared with the youth(P>0.05).Conclusion:1.The elderly patients of ulcerative colitis hospitalized in the First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University in 2011-2015 have more males than females, and the morbidity of women is increased after the age of 60.2.The main clinical manifestations of the elderly patients are abdominal pain, diarrhea, blood stools, and Different degrees of weight loss, anemia.Abdominal distention was more common in the elderly group and mucus stool was more common in the youth group. The elderly patients of ulcerative colitis is priority to chronic recurrent type and DUC is major proportion dominated. The severity of disease is relevant to scope of lesion.3.In this study, the treatment of the elderly group have no statistical significance with the treatment of the youth group. But because of the specificity the elderly, the pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and adverse drug reactions and adverse reaction may be different from young people.Coexist together is existed in majority of the elderly, the elderly's medication type, needs vary from person to person.
