Objective: In view of series of characteristics that the case driven teaching method can vividly stimulate the enthusiasm and participation of the practice nurse, and the study is to develop a series of education courses about patients' safety culture cognitive which adopts the widely used and haves official Chinese version of the WHO?Patient Safety Curriculum Guide?and combines with consistently clinical cases. The case driven teaching method is to carry out the intervention study about how to improve patients' safety culture cognitive level of the practice nurse and explore the effect of case driven teaching method to improve patients' safety culture cognitive level of the practice nurse.Method: The research totally selected 172 undergraduate nursing students who practiced in The First Affiliated Hospital Of Dalian Medical University and The Second Affiliated Hospital Of Dalian Medical University from July 2016 to April 2017.According to the internship program that they were divided into the experimental group and the control group averagely. The experimental group was educated Patient Safety Culture by the case driven teaching method on the basis of WHO ? Patient Safety Curriculum Guide?and the traditional teaching plan, while the control group only used the traditional teaching plan.Research tools such as Information Questionnaire,Hospital Survey of Patient Safety Culture, the Report Barriers Questionnaire were used for cross-sectional survey and the professional attitude and safety culture teaching of practice nurses' Questionnaire.EXCEL office software was used for data entry, and SPSS17.0 statistical package was used for data processing.General descriptive statistics,t-test of independent samples,one-way ANOVA,Pearson correlation, multiple linear stepwise regression and other statistical methods were used to do statistical analysis.Result:1.Before the intervention the total score of the experimental group's patients' safety culture cognitive was 165.92±15.88 points, while the total score of the control group's patient safety culture was 162.19±17.347 points. Each dimension of safety culture questionnaire was P > 0.05,which proved that two groups had no difference. The mean rate of positive response was 71.73%,and seven advantage areas where positive response from high to low were: teamwork within hospital units, organizational learning-continuous improvement, hospital management support for patient safety,supervisor/manager expectations and actions promoting safety, succession and change one's major, feedback and communication about errors and the overall feeling of patient safety, one improve area where positive response was frequency of event reporting..2.After the intervention the total score of the experimental group's patient safety culture was 165.02±16.014 points, while the total score of the control group's patient safety culture was 143.23±14.63 points. Each dimension of safety culture questionnaire was P < 0.05,which proved that difference was statistically significant.3.The patients' safety culture cognitive was positively related with professional attitude(P<0.05).4.The total score of the experimental group's professional attitude was 29.23±3.117 points, while the total score of the control group's professional attitude was 28.72±3.952 points after the intervention and the two groups had no difference. The total score of the experimental group's professional attitude was 28.65±3.125 points, while the total score of the control group's professional attitude was 24.96±5.044 points after the intervention.Difference was statistically significant. What is more, there was no statistically significant difference in the experimental group before and after intervention, while in control group difference was statistically significant before and after intervention.5.There was no statistically significant difference before and after the intervention(P>0.05)in the experimental group of report barriers and its three dimensions including punitive culture, the meaning of report and reporting process.6.Multiple regression analysis showed that after considering the professional attitude and the safety culture of education, the experimental group's patient's safety culture scored higher than the non-intervention group.Conclusion:1.Before the intervention, the level of patients' safety culture cognitive level in undergraduate nursing students was not high.2.The case driven teaching method can avoid the patients' safety culture cognitive level of practice nursing students fall through to increase the total score of the experimental group's professional attitude.
