Objective:Evaluating the effect which post-amputee phantom limb pain is treated by mirror-image through systematic reviews and meta-analysis.Methods:Articles which phantom limb pain was treated by mirror image was searched in MEDLINE,PubMed,EMbase,The Cochrane Library,CBM,VIP,WanFang Data and CNKI database. The searching intervals was from database beginning to December 10,2017.Two reviewers used the RevMan 5.3 software for meta-analysis after screening the literature according to the criteria and extracting the relevant data.Results:4 randomized controlled trials(RCTs)were included in total, including 102 patients,49 patients in the experimental group and 53 patients in the control group;2 cohort studies,a total of 38 patients.Six trials have 140 patients, all of whom had unilateral upper limbs or lower limb amputations. Results:Four random-controlled trials do not have sufficient evidence to support mirror therapy which is used in patients who had phantom limb pain after amputation [MD =–10.13,95% CI(–27.24,6.97),P=0.25];but 2 cohort studies support that mirror image therapy can alleviate Phantom limb pain [MD=1.61,95% CI(1.43,1.80),P<0.00001].Conclusion:The RCT analysis results fail to support the effectiveness of mirror image therapy;however, the cohort study suggest that mirror image therapy can improve phantom limb pain. However, due to the relatively small sample size of the relevant studies and the uneven quality of the included studies, the above conclusions still need a large sample,multiple-center,high-quality research to verify.
