Obturator hernia is a rare intra-abdominal hernia which is rarely reported in the literature.This disease is mostly seen in old and weak patients,women are the main ones,and most of them have no specific clinical symptoms in the early stage,the intestinal obstruction are the main performance.Because most clinicians awareness of the disease is not sufficient,so they are prone to misdiagnosis and missed this diagnosis,resulting in severe patients with intestinal necrosis and perforation,septic shock and other complications,and even death.This is a case of an 81 year old female patient with acute intestinal obstruction,abdominal and pelvic CT scan considering the left obturator hernia,emergency exploratory laparotomy and confirmed the small bowel obstruction caused by left obturator hernia incarceration.After active treatment,the patients recovered smoothly after operation,and the related literatures about obturator hernia were discussed.
