Diagnosis, Treatment And Some Questions Remained Of Abdominal Incisional Hernia

Objective To explore the diagnosis,treatment and some questions remained of abdominal incisional hernia .Methods Ninety-six patients with abdominal incisional hernia treated in our hospital from May 1997 to Dec 2005 were analyzed retrospectively,which consisted of 56 male examples and 40 female examples,with an average age of 63.7 years old. Before surgical operations ,57 examples had taken b-ultrasound examinations,while 12 examples had taken CT examinations.For 22 patients, their abdominal walls were sewn up directly after their hernial sac had been cut off, the others were repaired by using synthetic materials ,including 52 cases using polypropylene species and 22 cases using ePTFE or Composix be made of polypropylene and ePTFE .Result After operations ,there were 7 examples who had fat liquefactions or wound infections ,1 example who had intestinal fistula and 5 examples who recrudesced .Conclusion Prevention of abdominal incisional hernia is an important thing before therapia . Its main pathologic and physiologic changes may be the respiratory insufficiency , the recession of abdominal muscle and the skin changes . B-ultrasound and CT are of some help to diagnosis . Treatments for obesity , exercises for improving respiratory function and pneumoperitoneum should be prepared before an operation .We should choose a proper way to repair incisional hernia according to the size of hernia ring , and all abdominal weak areas that may cause another incisional hernia must be repaired in an operation.
