Objective: Pattern Visual Evoked Potential(P-VEP)and Optical Coherence Tomography(OCT)examination techniques were used to study changes in retinal structures and functional recovery after normal visual acuity in anisometropic amblyopic eyes. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted to collect 46 patients with amblyopia caused by anisometropia at the Ophthalmology Clinic of the Second Central Hospital of Baoding from December 2016 to March 2017.Among them, there were 26 male patients and 20 female patients.According to age, they were divided into two natural cohorts: 6-12 years old(27 people)and greater than 12 years old group(19 people). After the subjects were enrolled, the contents and methods of the examination included the following items: visual acuity, diopter examination, axial determination,P-VEP and OCT measurements. The comprehensive treatment was used to treat amblyopia patients. After 1 year, the amblyopia recovery and related indicators were observed, and the differences between the two groups were observed.Results:1.There was no difference in visual acuity and equivalent refraction of the amblyopic eyes in the 6-12 year old group and the 12-year-old group. The axial length of the 6-12 year old group was shorter, and the difference was statistically significant(P=0.000).After 1 year of treatment, the 6-12 year-old group had a 59.26%(16/27)cure rate that was higher than the cure rate of 31.58%(6/19)for the 12-year-olds.The efficacy of the 6-12 group was better than that of the 12-year-olds,and the difference was statistically significant(P=0.021).2.Before treatment, the P100 wave latency was delayed and the amplitude was decreased compared with the amblyopia eyes of the 12-year-old group and the 6-12 year-old group. Two groups of patients with amblyopia and contralateral eye were delayed by P100 wave incubation period, while at the same time the amplitude of the 12 year group was reduced. The average RNFLT in the macular area was slightly thinner in the amblyopic eyes in the 6-12 years old group than in the 12 years old group. The macular region RNFLT in temporal regions are thicker,in the amblyopes of the 12-year-old group than in the contralateral eyes.3.In patients with basic recovery, the latent period of P100 waves in the 6-12 year-old group was shortened and the amplitude was increased compared with that before treatment. In the group older than 12 years, only the P100 wave latency was shortened. The mean, nasal areas of the RNFLT in the macular area of the 6-12 years old group were thinner than before treatment, and the area above the 12 years old group had no statistical significance than before treatment.4.After treatment, the amblyopia in patients with basic recovery was compared with the contralateral eye,and the 6-12 group still showed the latency of P100 wave latency. The latency was greater in the 12-year-old group and the amplitude was reduced. In the 6-12 years old group, the RNFLT in the macular region was thicker in the subnasale than in the opposite eye;the group larger than 12 years old was thicker in the temporal region than in the opposite eye. Conclusions:The anisometropic amblyopia patients have some differences in the structure and function of the retina. When the visual acuity of the amblyopic eye returns to normal, both the structure and function of the retina are restored to the contralateral eye,but the level of the contralateral eye has not yet been reached. In the low-age group, the cure rate of amblyopia was higher, and the changes in structure and function were more obvious. The correlation examination of P-VEP and OCT can objectively evaluate the therapeutic effect of amblyopia.
