Objective:To observe and evaluate the clinical efficacy of percutaneous balloon kyphoplasty in the treatment of Kummell's disease. Methods:A total of 17 cases of Kummell disease diagnosed in our hospital from April 2016 to August 2017 were retrospectively analyzed. Two cases of multiple vertebral lesions and lost follow-up were excluded,15 cases were actually included,5 males and 10 females, aged 61-80 years old, average 68±5.3 years old.15 cases of patients were performed X-ray,CT and MRI examination, which include 3 cases of T10,1 case of T11,3 cases of T12,5 cases of L1,1case of L2,2 cases of L3.15 patients received percutaneous kyphoplasty by the same surgeon under local anesthesia. The radiographs and sagittal Cobb angle were measured preoperatively,24h postoperative and 1 month after surgery. We use visual analogue scale?VAS?and Oswestry dysfunction index?ODI index?to assess clinical efficacy.Result:All fifteen patients successfully underwent surgery,with1 case of bone cement tailing in the vertebral pedicle,1 case of puncture site pain,2 cases of lower backpain. The sagittal Cobb angle improved from preoperative 28.1±1.8°to 20.3±1.9°24h postoperative and20.4±1.8°1 month after surgery;VAS score decreased from 6.6±0.9 points preoperative to2.4±0.6 points 24h postoperation and 2.6±0.6 points 1 month after surgery;ODI index decreased from preoperative 88±3.2%to postoperative 24h 32.1±4.2%and 29.9±2.5%1month after surgery. Conclusion:Percutaneous kyphoplasty is effective in patients with Kummell's disease, which has less trauma, shorter operation time, quicker recovery, improved patient`s life quality.
