Objective:To observe and evaluate of therapeutic effect on percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) method in accordance with osteoporotic vertebral compressive fractures, and comparing with traditional conservative method in treatment effect, complication and soon. Methods:From January 2014 to December 2015,147 patients enrolled in our hospital who were diagnosed osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures, including 82 cases of vertebral kyphoplasty (surgery group), the line with the same period in the conservative treatment in 65 patients (conservative group). These two groups were analyzed by clinical and radiological index such as Visual Analogue Scale/Score(VAS), Oswestry Disability Index(ODI) and complication to figure out the difference between conservative and surgery treatment which provides insight of PKP in dealing with osteoporotic vertebral compressive fractures. Results:After following up all these patients ranging from 6 months to 12 months, the data indicate that the pain of post-surgery patients is significantly released or even abolished. Compared the before and 6,12 months later after the PKP surgery, the surgically-treated group exists a significant statistic difference(P<0.05) according to the VAS, ODI and Cobb Angel. There is a significant difference(P<0.05)between surgically-treated group and control group according to Cobb Angle analysis in the delayed one year. However, there is no significant difference(P>0.05)between these two groups according to VAS and ODI analysis in the 6 and 12 months later after the PKP surgery. There are 7 cases occurred complications occurred in conservative group, no surgery group. Conclusion:Relative to the traditional conservative treatment methods, PKP as a treatment for the OVCF the minimally invasive surgery has quickly relieve the patient’s pain, shorter hospitalization time and reduce complications caused bedridden, while correct kyphosis patients, etc. PKP is the most widely used, worthy of clinical application.
