ObjectiveThe purpose of the study is to understand the status and influencing factor of the core competence of undergraduate nursing students.Based on the WBL the core competence improvement scheme was constructed and practiced.The effect of WBL practice was evaluated by stages.The effect of the WBL practice on the core competence of nursing students was discussed.MethodsThis research mainly adopted the action research mode of reflective action reflection.First,the researcher reflected the existing nursing education problem through investigation and interviews,analyzed the current situation of work based learning through literature research,and choice the theoretical basis of the research.After that,the action research conference was convened to develop the programme of action and then implement the programme.In practice,we constantly rethought and found new problems.We used group interviews,observation methods and content analysis to evaluate the operation effect of practical activities,continue to reflect on the existing problems and solutions,and then formulate the next stage of action plan.Three rounds of action cycles were carried out in the study.Results1.Through quantitative investigation and interviews,we found problems of the students in action colleges:critical thinking ability was weak,clinical biomedical science level was low,communication ability was insufficient.The existing ability of the nursing students can not meet clinical meets.2.We analyzed the existing problems and built the WBL practice program.The goal of the program was to enhance the nursing students`core ability.The content of the programme was the practice of nursing work and the marginal inference of the clinical cases.The basic design of the project was signing contract,interacting though platform and roundtable interacting.The evaluation system contained self-evaluation and evaluation by others.3.Based on qualitative interviews and field observations,3 stages of activities were timely reflected and the problems in the aspects of activity management,content design and assessment were solved.Quantity evaluation indicated that the nursing students`core competence has been improved with statistical significance(P<0.05).4.The working standard practice mechanism is summarized:providing meaningful learning situation for nursing students,deep excavation of the potential of nursing students,and constructing the cooperative practice community of schools and hospitals could improving core competencies of nursing students.ConclusionThe study constructs and practices work based practice activities,which can serve as an effective way to cultivate core competencies of nursing students.In the process of implementation,we gave full consideration to the current situation of education in action college,and provide effective references for promoting educational reform centered on nursing students.
