Objective: To evaluate the clinical curative effect of balance-inducing needle in Yao medicine on scapulohumeral periarthritis by comparing it with common acupuncture treatment and observing patient's pain, shoulder joint activity and function improvement before and after the treatment,so as to provide a simple and effective therapy for clinical practice. Methods: 60 patients meeting the inclusion criteria were randomly devided into two groups using random number table method, the treatment group(balance-inducing needle in Yao medicine)and the control group(routine acupuncture group),30 cases in each group. The gender, age, course and other basic conditions of patients in each group were comparable. To observe the clinical effect between the treatment group and the control group and the changes of shoulder joint pain index and the improvement of shoulder joint function. The function activity of shoulder joint was quantified before and after treatment. The changes of clinical symptom indexes before and after treatment were analyzed, including: VAS score and functional activity score of shoulder joint, and the efficiency of each group was calculated.SPSS statistical analysis software was used for data analysis. Results: Both the balance-inducing needle in Yao medicine therapy and routine acupuncture of had good therapeutic effect on periarthritis of shoulder, and there was significant difference between the treatment before and after 3 weeks of treatment(P <0.05).The difference of clinical efficacy was statistically significant.Compared between the two groups, the balance-inducing needle in Yao medicine was the most effective.VAS scores before and after treatment in both groups, before treatment compared with remove pain effect of 1 week after treatment,no significant difference(P>0.05),and comparing two 3 weeks after the treatment has a very significant difference(P<0.01).The comparison of shoulder joint function between the two groups before and after treatment was not significant(P>0.05).Compared with the CMS rating of 3 weeks after treatment, the balance-inducing needle in Yao medicine group in the aspect of shoulder joint function is better than that of conventional acupuncture group(P<0.05).After treatment, the overall efficacy of the balance acupuncture group and the conventional acupuncture group was 96.7% and 86.7% respectively, and the overall efficacy group was significantly different(P<0.05).Conclusion: Balance-inducing needle in Yao medicine and ordinary acupuncture treatment are effective, and the treatment effect of balance-inducing needle in Yao medicine on shoulder periarthritis is better than that of ordinary acupuncture. It is a kind of effective and worthy therapy to treat the pain, activity and function of the patients.
