Study On Life Satisfaction Of The Elderly In Shandong Province

BackgroundSince 2000 China entered into the aging society,to 2016 China's aging level is significantly higher than that of the world average.The aggravation of aging brings unprecedented challenges to the social and economic development of China.In October 18,2017,President Xi gave a report at the nineteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China,further stressed that the main contradiction of our society in the new era is the contradiction between the growing demand for better life and the imbalanced development of the people.In the new era,the party and government will lead the people to create a better life as an eternal goal and seize the most direct and realistic interests of the people,so as to raise people's living standard and life satisfaction.As the weak group,the physical function of the elderly is not as good as before.They are more likely to have chronic diseases and have more psychological burdens.As their children go out to work,their social support also decreases,all of which will reduce their quality of life and satisfaction.If the elderly are less satisfied with their life,they will have dissatisfaction with all aspects of society,which will not be conducive to the harmony and stability of the society.ObjectiveWe took the elderly over 60 years old in Shandong Province as the respondents,Then we compared the life satisfaction of the elderly with different attributes in Shandong province,explore the influencing factors of the life satisfaction of the elderly,and put forward the social measures to improve the life satisfaction of the elderly in Shandong province.Date and MethodsThe date was extracted from the National Natural Science Fund(71673169).The sample covers 3 prefecture level cities in Shandong Province,including 3 counties(cities)and 3 districts,18 townships(streets)and 108 villages.In each sample village(residence),50 households were randomly selected.A total of 5649 households were investigated and 5643 valid questionnaires were collected.And 7070 elderly aged 60 and above were selected.SPSS24.0 was used for statistical analysis.Descriptive analysis,one-way chi square test and logistic regression analysis were used to explore the influencing factors of life satisfaction of the elderly.ResultsThe life satisfaction of the elderly in Shandong reaches 95.6%,of which 53%were very satisfied,32.9%were satisfied,and 9.7%were satisfied;factors affecting life satisfaction in social demography were age,marital status and employment status;factors affecting the life satisfaction of the elderly in the economic factors included the self-evaluation of the economy and the lack of payment;factors affecting the life satisfaction of the elderly in the physical factors included self-reported health and ADL;factors affecting the life satisfaction of the elderly in the psychological factors included psychology status,mental resilience,self-efficacy and loneliness;factors affecting the life satisfaction of the elderly in the social support factors included other people's help,interpersonal relationships,recreational activities,negative events and the frequency of communication with their children.Conclusions and SuggestionsFrom the factors that affect the life satisfaction of the elderly,it can be concluded that the life satisfaction of the elderly depends not only on the rich of the objective conditions of the elderly,but also on their own mentality and subjective feelings.In view of the above results,the policy suggestions are put forward:at the government level,the government should plays a leading role in aging industry;at the social level,the social forces should be encouraged to actively participate in the welfare of the elderly;at the family level,to maintain family harmony and stability,and the children should go home often;at the individual level,maintain a positive and optimistic attitude,and continue to realize the value of themselves.
