A Study On The Production Efficiency Of Large-scale Breeding Mode Of Mutton Sheep In Shandong Province

Shandong Province is the third largest province for mutton sheep breeding and m utton production except Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang.It is also the largest sheep indu stry development area in China.It has rich forage resources and a variety of high-qua lity mutton sheep.But due to various factors,Shandong is difficult to develop into a strong province for raising sheep.In recent years,large-scale mutton sheep breeding in Shandong Province has become increasingly prominent and the scale has been contin uous increasing.However,the traditional free-range sheep breeding mode is still in a dominant position,which not only hinders the transition of mutton sheep breeding to l arge-scale in Shandong province,but also bring negative effect on the production effic iency increase of mutton sheep industry in Shandong.Therefore,against the background of the continuous development of large-scale br eeding of mutton sheep,this article has analysis on the following items,the general si tuation of mutton sheep breeding in Shandong Province;the development summary,ch aracteristics,operating mechanism and typical cases of different large-scale breeding m ode of mutton sheep in Shandong Province,as well as the production efficiency of di fferent mutton sheep breeding modes in Shandong Province.Finally,on the basis of t his study,some policy suggestions are put forward to improve the production efficienc y and scale of sheep breeding in Shandong Province.The main research results have been shown as follows.(1)The number of mutto n sheep output,the number of mutton sheep stock in Shandong Province,as well as t he corresponding proportions nationwide have been witnessing downward trends.Altho ugh the production of mutton in Shandong has shown an increasing trend,the proporti on of mutton production in whole meat production in Shandong province has shown a downward trend.While the total number of free-range farmers and the number of lar ge-scale farmers achieved significant declines,and the degree of large-scale breeding is increasing;(2)The fact is that the family-operated system has become one of the ke y production and operation forms within the large-scale breeding mode of mutton sheep throughout Shandong Province.And the main operation forms of mutton sheep bree ding modes contain “Company + Farmers”,“Company + Cooperatives +Farmers”,“Comp any + Base +Farmers” and etc..Finally,based on the operational characteristics of mu tton sheep breeding modes,this paper summed up corresponding conditions applicable to the above modes;(3)The overall production efficiency of the large-scale breeding mode of mutton sheep and the situation in the stage of constant returns to scale in S handong Province stayed in good condition.And the enterprise breeding mode of mutt on sheep has more advantages than the large-scale breeding mode of mutton sheep in the comprehensive technical efficiency,pure-technical efficiency,scale efficiency and t he unchanged returns to scale condition.According to the above research results,relevant policy recommendations are prop osed from the perspective of the farm(farmers)and the government,hope that will b e of certain reference value for the subsequent development of large-scale breeding,br eeding technology and management capabilities of mutton sheep in Shandong Province.
