Study On The Producing Area,Yield And Name Of Tea In Song Dynasty

Song Dynasty is one of the most developed dynasties in China’s feudal economy and culture,and its various aspects have a significant impact on future generations.During this period,tea production has made great progress on the basis of the Tang and the Five Dynasties.The tea production area of the whole country has been expanded,the tea planting scope is more extensive,and the tea production has also increased.This paper starts from the tea industry of Song Dynasty,combining with the research results of ancient books,local chronicles and modern people,makes an in-depth study on the tea production area,production,the reasons and significance of tea development and prosperity in Song Dynasty.About tea producing areas in Song Dynasty,on the basis of previous studies,it was concluded that in the Northern Song Dynasty,the tea producing areas were distributed in 19 roads,122 prefectures and 306 counties,while in the Southern Song Dynasty,the tea producing areas were distributed in 16 roads,117 prefectures and 305 counties.The number of tea producing states in the Southern Song Dynasty is slightly less than that in the Northern Song Dynasty,which is due to the war.In the Southern Song Dynasty,which is located in the south of the huaishui River,almost all the tea producing areas were produced.Through the analysis,the proportion of tea producing states and counties in the Southern Song Dynasty was higher than that in the Northern Song Dynasty,reflecting the expansion of tea planting area in the Southern Song Dynasty and the increase of the proportion of tea producing areas in the tea producing areas.Compared with the Tang Dynasty,the distribution of tea production areas in the Song Dynasty tended to move southward,from scattered distribution to centralized distribution,and the imbalance of overall distribution gradually decreased.During the Song Dynasty,tea producing areas were mainly distributed in the Yangtze River Basin and the southeast coastal areas.The main producing area was Jiangnan Road,followed by Jinghu,Liangzhe and Fujian road.To some extent,the Song Dynasty basically laid the foundation for the distribution pattern of tea producing areas in later generations.In terms of tea production in Song Dynasty,tea in Song Dynasty can be divided into Southeast tea and Sichuan tea(edge tea).In the early period of Northern Song Dynasty,Southeast tea was forbidden to be discussed.Based on the amount of tea purchased,combined with tax converted tea,tea consumption,tribute tea,private tea,etc.,the production of southeast tea was estimated to be about 54.115 million jin.At the same time,due to the lack of specific data,the output of Sichuan tea is 14.4375 million jin calculated by tea tax,with a total of 68.5525 million jin as the annual output of national tea in the Northern Song Dynasty.During the Shaoxing period of the Southern Song Dynasty,both the southeast tea and the Sichuan tea were forbidden to discuss.The southeast tea was also estimated to be about 46.0788 million jin based on the amount of tea purchased.The output of Sichuan tea was estimated to be at least 21 million jin based on the historical data of Chengdu Fu Road,Lizhou road and Kuizhou Road,with a total of 67.0788 million jin as the annual output of tea leaves in the Southern Song Dynasty.Compared with the Northern Song Dynasty,the tea production in the Southern Song Dynasty decreased slightly,which should be due to the impact of the war.Considering the error of estimation and the discrepancy of data statistics,the tea production in the Southern Song Dynasty should not change much compared with that in the Northern Song Dynasty,and even the tea production in some roads has a significant increase compared with that in the Northern Song Dynasty.Song Dynasty has a large number of tea,a collection of famous products,from the appearance,it can be divided into two categories: slice tea(group cake tea)and loose tea(grass tea).On the basis of previous research results,the tea producing areas in Song Dynasty were specified to prefectures and counties,and the current location was indicated.A total of 249 tea products were analyzed.In Song Dynasty,the trend of tea from slice tea to loose tea gradually appeared,which laid a solid foundation for the later dynasties to open a new brewing method of loose tea.The reasons and historical significance of the development of tea industry in Song Dynasty are mainly analyzed and discussed from the political,economic and cultural aspects;the historical significance is explored from the aspects of increasing the fiscal revenue of Song Dynasty government,maintaining the stability of the border area,promoting the economic and cultural exchanges,promoting the prosperity of tea house industry and ceramic industry,and promoting the evolution of tea production.
