The Flowers Of Song Dynasty Literature Research

Chinese records about flower sprouted during the Qin and Han periods, literally grew in the Wei, Jin and Southern and Northern dynasties and prospered during the Sui, Tang and Song periods. Especially in the Song dynasty, the ancient flower and branch came into a peak after about thousand years slowly development. Which can be seen from two aspects of the Song society, one was its accumulated poverty and weakness, the other was extremely flourishing and development of its commercial economy and culture, various literatures of flower appeared enormously and continuously then. A great deal of works about flowers ranged from monographs on special kind of flower to general narratives greatly appeared. Furthermore, subject matter about flower greatly appeared in diaries, poems, drawings and so on. All those formed the foundation of research and uncovered the prologue for classification of research in this article. This essay has a basis of historical literature and also adopted ways of comparison, enumeration and classification, it is related to knowledge of literature, horticulture, aesthetics and biology. All in all, a preliminary classification and detailed introduction and probing the literatures of flower in the Song dynasty is an attempt of library science and it will also facilitate search and reading on documents of flower in the Song dynasty.It is divided into four parts to make a research in this article. The first part are the reasons for documents of flower being flourishing in the Song dynasty. It will discuss from political policy of putting an emphasis on civil officers and lighting military officers, popularity of building gardens and highly development of publication industry.The second part is about the classification of documents of flower. It is can be classified as an flower and picture map, historical notes novel, poetry.Every category can be further classified. The first category includes flower spectra recorded and flower picture; the second category includes historical notes and note novels, most of notes novels can be divided into four categories by standard of regional tendency, plantation skill, edible and medicine values and the recorded preface and postscript of previous poetry; the third category is flower poetry, which can be classified as directly description features of flower, expressing one’s emotion by flower and the usage of literary quotations.The third part are values of documents and their reality meaning. It can be seen from aspects of historical material values, technology values, edible and medicine values, culture values, tourism values, Harmonious interpersonal relationship and so on.The last part is some other discussion. We should pay attention to some other questions except the former narratives, such as flower used as food and medicine, the security of them should be careful; to cultivate flower tourism should start from own historical and geography conditions, the phenomenon of artificial festivals should be avoided.
