Windrow turner is the machine which can turn, mix, stir solid materials; it is mainlyused for organic fertilizer production and to deal with living garbage and sludge. Currently,the analysis is lack and no more style of products and theoretical basis about work part ofwindrow turner, namely turning wheel, in the domestic. According to the windrow turnerwork situation of compost factory, in this paper, the work principle and characteristic ofwindrow turner is introduced careful, and then the design scheme of turning wheel knife isput forward, based on the market and enterprise requirements. Afterwards, on account ofturning knife design and robust design thought and finite element method, the design ofentirety turning wheel is achieved. For let relevant people have a deeper understandingabout the working process of windrow turner, so this paper is written, then to put offerdesign idea and feasible method for turning wheel and turning knife, to make the producthave more robustness. The main studies content of this paper are as follows:Based on the work situation of windrow turner compost factory, the structure andworking characteristic of turning wheel is introduced by concise way and schematicdiagram, result in the more clear and transparent job characteristics of turning wheel ispresented. Because of the importance of turning wheel knife, according to the marketdemand and the company requires, several designs of turning knife are put forward, thenits design model is drew by three dimensional design Solidworks, final, same designscheme of turning knife is achieved.According to the function and turning effect of windrow turner, the design criterionof turning wheel design is discussed, and then the basis and more clear design point ofwindrow turning is got. Based on the criterion, the design scheme of turning knife isanalyzed by finite element method and finite element software, Hypermesh and Ls-dyna,finally the best one design is obtained.Based on the better turning knife, the parameter of turning wheel is designed byrobust design of theory. Here, not only the controllable factors are considered but also theuncontrollable factors, the more robustness produce is obtained. The orthogonal test tableis used to design the test combination of turning wheel; the more scientific of testcombination is had. To the calculation results, the data is transformed to Signal-to-noiseratio and is analyzed by variance theory, eventually the best design is achieved, meanwhilethe rationality and the feasibility is verified by fatigue analysis.Considering the vibration characteristics of turning wheel influence on theperformance of windrow turner, the analysis of free modal is did in the end of this paper.The feasibility of windrow turner is verified, moreover the shortcomings of design isanalyzed, for upgrading and optimization designing of windrow turner to providereference and theoretical basis in future.
