How to utilize the livestock and poultry excrements though harmless treatment such ascomposting and zymolysis, has become a problem that requires urgent solution. The producingof high quality livestock and poultry manure depends on advanced production technology andequipment. However Compost Turner as the key equipment of composting and zymolysis,directly influences the production efficiency and quality of the compost.Based on reviewing the domestic and external development and study status of CompostTurner, this paper analyzes the existing problem of troughed Compost Turner at present. Thekinematic and dynamic analysis of Compost Turner used for composting are conducted;rotary-cut blades and plate blades are studyed and designed; the kinematic and structuralparameters of troughed Compost Turner are optimized based on numerical simulation of theprocess of turning fertilizer with blade; an optimization method for arranging blades on roller ispresented, according to the effect of the arrangement of blades on mechanical dynamicperformance and working stability. The main work and conclusions are as follows.1) The working mechanism of Compost Turner used for composting is analyzed, kinematicand dynamic characteristics of troughed Compost Turner are studied, and a general operatingcondition of troughed Compost Turner is obtained.2) According to the requirement of small cutting resistance of troughed Compost Turner, thethrown material moving in the space as long as possible and fully contacting with air, the designplan of rotary-cut blade that constructed by eccentric circular cutting edge is proposed. The3Dmodels of rotary-cut blade and plate blade are established separately. Through the numericalsimulation analysis of turning fertilizer with blades, the effective resistance and powerconsumption of turning fertilizer with rotary-cut blades are compared with plate blade.The resultshows that the effective resistance and power consumption of peeling-type blade are smaller insame condition is proved.3) Based on numerical simulation, the regression equation of power consumption ofrotary-cut blade is achieved by orthogonal test, which is conducted on the experimental factorsof Compost Turner speed vmand roller speed ω as well as the eccentricity ratio e of rotary-cut blade constructed by eccentric circular cutting edge. The mathematical model of Compost Turnerfor parametric optimization is established aiming at minimizing power consumption as much aspossible. A group of optimized parameters for Compost Turner are achieved for NingboHuangying Agricultural Science and Technology Co., Ltd., which also provides a theoreticalbasis and design methods for research and development of the troughed Compost Turner.4) A new project of helix arrangement of blade is presented after studying the arrangementof blades on roller, aiming at the question of the high power consumption and the large vibrationof troughed Compost Turner at present,and a computer-aided design software for arranging bladeis compiled(software copyright:2011SR026215). The simulation analysis shows the newarrangement of blades on roller which is applied in practice is smaller in vibration and lower inpower consumption compared to the arrangement at present.
