The functional system of the railway passenger station consists of three elements:the square in front of the station,the station building,and the passenger facilities at the station.The square in front of the station serves as the medium and link between the railway passenger station and the city.It bears various functions such as transportation hubs,urban gatherings and distributions,civic exchanges,urban and community landscapes,public services,and disaster prevention and refuge.The main venue.Due to the development of railway transportation in China,people’s travel modes and waiting modes have also changed,and the functions to be accommodated in the square in front of the station are diversified.As a result,there is a contradiction between the original intention of the design and the actual use,it is difficult to meet the various psychological and physiological needs of the users,the function of the square in front of the station is different,and new requirements are proposed for the planning and design of the square in front of the station.Therefore,there is an urgent need to evaluate whether the existing square in front of the railway passenger station meets the needs of users through multiple channels.The post-use evaluation method refers to a set of systematic evaluation procedures and methods for the building and its environment after completion and use for a period of time.It focuses on the using of the building environment,opinions and needs of users.This article applies this research method to the square in front of Handan Railway Passenger Station to ensure the objectivity,scientificity and logic of the research method.The research scope is established as a post-use evaluation study on the ordinary railway passenger station in the city center and the square in front of the high-speed railway passenger station in the eastern new area.The evaluation system of the square in front of the railway passenger station is constructed through the space system of the square in front of Handan Station and Handan East Station,and the evaluation research is carried out from the four aspects of the square transportation system organization,functional space layout,space environment characteristics and human environment creation.From the perspective of users,the optimization strategy of the space system in front of the Handan Railway Passenger Station is proposed.The optimization suggestions feedback from the evaluation of the square in frontof the Handan railway passenger station will help to discuss the evolution and development of the square in front of the station.
