"The 13 th Five-Year Plan" period is a crucial period for China to transform its economic development mode and enter the ranks of innovative countries.Against the background of high-quality economic development,the era of relying on fixed asset investment to drive the rapid growth of the construction industry has passed.The construction industry urgently needs to make changes in growth patterns and industrial structures to adapt to the development of modern economy.As an important pillar industry of the national economy,the construction industry is closely related to the coordinated operation of the national economy.However,problems such as insufficient innovation input and weak innovation transformation capacity exposed by the construction industry during the transformation and upgrading process have seriously restricted the healthy development of China's construction industry,and furthermore,weaken the vitality of regional economic development.Therefore,the article takes construction industry innovation as the starting point,and explores the coordination relationship between construction industry innovation and regional economic development.The research content of this article includes four parts.First,based on the existing literature,the article proposes a mechanism for the coupled and coordinated development of construction industry innovation and regional economy,and builds a theoretical model of coupled and coordinated development;Secondly,this paper constructs the evaluation index system of construction industry innovation and regional economic development by combining quantitative and qualitative methods,and uses SPSS and Amos software to test the reliability and validity of confirmatory factors of the questionnaire results;Thirdly,this paper makes an empirical test of the coupling and coordination between construction industry innovation and regional economic development based on panel data of 31 provinces,regions and cities in China from 2009 to 2018.The index system weights,evaluation of system development level,coupling degree,and coupling coordination degree were measured and analyzed in turn.The obstacle degree model selects the main obstacle factors that restrict the coupling and coordinated development of the system;Fourthly,the article establishes a spatial correlation model through ArcGIS and Geoda software,and then analyzes the spatial distribution characteristics of the coupling and coordination degree;Finally,based on the above analysis,the paper puts forward some suggestions to promote the development of system coupling and coordination.The main conclusions of the article are as follows:(1)China's construction industry innovation and regional economic development are spatially consistent,showing a gradually increasing pattern from west to east,with the highest levels of construction industryinnovation in Beijing and Jiangsu,and the highest levels of regional economic development in Guangdong and Jiangsu;(2)The coupling and coordinated development type of construction industry innovation and regional economy in China is on the verge of maladjustment and the construction industry innovation lags behind the regional economic development.The internal gap has narrowed but the regional differences are significant.Jiangsu,Beijing,Shanghai,and Guangdong have the highest degree of coupling and coordination;(3)Construction industry's innovation environment,construction industry's innovation achievements and economic development scale are the main obstacles to the coordinated development of the system,and the two-system and three-system obstacle modes appear the most frequently;(4)The degree of coupling and coordination between the construction industry innovation and regional economic development in China is significantly concentrated in space.There is a positive spatial autocorrelation,with H-H distribution in the eastern region and L-L distribution in the western region.Xinjiang,Qinghai,Tibet,Yunnan,Sichuan,and Jiangsu have significant clustering characteristics.The main value of this study is to put forward and demonstrate the viewpoint of the coordinated development of construction industry innovation and regional economy,to construct the evaluation index system of construction industry innovation and regional economic development by combining quantitative and qualitative methods,and to use the panel data of 31 regions in China from 2009 to 2018 for empirical analysis.The research results provide theoretical support and research ideas for promoting the transformation and upgrading of construction industry,promoting the coupling and coordinated development of construction industry innovation and regional economic coupling.
