In the past 40 years of reform and opening up,while China's economy has maintained rapid growth, investment in railway construction has also been expanding.2013-2017 is the period in which the amount of investment and the new line of production have been the highest in the history of railway construction. However,in recent years,China's development is facing problems such as increased economic downward pressure, uneven regional economic development, and limited land supply constraints in transportation planning. Then,is the benefit of the continuous increase in railway construction investment positively driving economic development? Are the pace of railway traffic and regional economic development in all regions coordinated? Studying these issues will be of great significance for the transformation of China's economy from high-speed growth to high-quality development.Based on the above problems, this paper firstly discusses the mechanism of the coordinated interaction between railway transportation and regional economic development from the perspective of the coordination of railway transportation and regional economic development, with reference to the relevant research of domestic and foreign scholars and the related basic theories.Establish a comprehensive evaluation index system for the development level of railway transportation and regional economic system, and comprehensively evaluate the railway transportation and economic development level of China's provincial units from 2007 to 2016.Then,using the system coupling evaluation model, quantitatively evaluate the provinces of China. The coupling degree of railway transportation and regional economy in the eight-level comprehensive economic zone;finally, based on the grey system theory, constructing the grey correlation evaluation model, and measuring the correlation degree between the railway transportation and the regional economic system in the eight comprehensive economic zones, and analyzing The relative impact of various factors on the system.Research shows that:(1)There is a two-way feedback between railway traffic and regional economy.(2)At present, the coordination of railway transportation and regional economic development in China's eight major comprehensive economic zones is in an asynchronous development stage.(3)From the provincial level,China's railway transportation and regional economic development level are basically at the middle and high level coupling stage, and the two have strong interaction.(4)China's eight major comprehensive economic zones(except the southwest and the northwestern comprehensive economic zone)are at a medium-level coordination level for the coordinated development of railway traffic and regional economy, and the dynamic trend of coordinated development has remained basically stable(except the Northwest Comprehensive Economic Zone). The coordinated development level presents a gradient of “gradual decline from northeast to southwest and northwest”.(5)The correlation between the speed of development of railway traffic and regional economy in China's eight major comprehensive economic zones has been significantly enhanced since 2013.(6)The positive driving effect of railway traffic on the regional economy in China's eight comprehensive economic zones is greater than the positive push of the regional economy on railway traffic, and the impact of various related factors on the system is different.
