A Multi-perspective Study Of Urban Traffic Congestion

Urban traffic congestion,as a problem that countries in the world have experienced or are experiencing during the development process,affects the healthy operation of the city and the daily life of the residents.Over the years,China's traffic congestion has been being cured for a long time and it has been a social issues of concern to both the government and the individual.Traffic congestion is gradually produced in the development of urbanization,and the urbanization process is carried out in the social environment.Therefore,compared with other countries,the traffic congestion in China has both similarities and its own particularities compared with other countries.Therefore,the problem of traffic congestion in China should not be studied blindly copy foreign experience,but should be analyzed in combination with the actual situation.The road traffic flow in China is more complicated because of the mix of motor vehicles and non-motor vehicles.Therefore,the definition and evaluation of congestion is not only concerned with motor vehicles.Secondly,the traffic congestion in China's social system have various types of factors beyond the traffic field.Firstly,the development process of urbanization and traffic congestion in China were sorted out and the current situation and characteristics of traffic congestion in China were described.Then definition and evaluation method of traffic congestion from different perspectives in traditional researchbased were analyzed and reviewed to summarize their one-sidedness.On this basis,a new definition and evaluation method were proposed from the people-oriented perspective in combination with the actual situation in China.In this method,the objects affected by traffic congestion are divided into three categories,which comprehensively evaluated the congestion of vehicles,public traffic and slow traffic.Secondly,the root causes of traffic congestion in China from multiple perspectives were explored through the combination of qualitative and quantitative methods.The causes and underlying causes of traffic congestion in China's national conditions were explored from the perspectives of transportation system itself,the relation of urbanization and transportation and people-oriented concept.Finally,Zhengzhou was selected as a representative city for case analysis.Based on the summary the development,characteristics and causes of congestion in Zhengzhou,multi-perspective evaluation of the status of traffic congestion in Zhengzhou was proposed from multiple perspectives through the autonavi map,spot investigation and the evaluation method proposed in the previous article and the effects and significance of congestion improvement measures in recent years were analyzed from people-oriented perspective.
