Chinese traditional landscape architecture, with its rich cultural ideas and unique national characteristics, enjoys a high reputation in the world. As one of the landscape elements, water often appears as the main body of landscape in traditional Chinese gardens. It combines the landscape with the surrounding environment by its unique nature of unchangeable and changeable, and constructs a rich landscape of alternation of motion and static and combination of reality and fiction. This thesis takes the water-management techniques of traditional Chinese gardens as the research object, through reading literature and field investigation, discusses their cultural ideas, summarizes their design principles and summarizes their application methods, and carries out practical verification on Hujiatang in Qianzhou Gucheng,Jishou,Hunan Province. It isveryimportantto promote the inheritance and application of traditional water-management art in modern landscape.Meaning.The main results of this paper are as follows:i)By reading literature and analyzing classical cases, this paper summarizes the Chinese traditional cultural connotations contained in the traditional landscape water management art, which can be summarized as: the ideological purpose of harmony between man and nature, the philosophical enlightenment of Taoism, law and nature, and the pursuit of artistic conception of blending scenes. At the same time,it summarizes the application methods and principles of traditional landscape water management techniques in modern landscape.ii)Combining with the specific cases of Chinese traditional gardens, this paper summarizes the water management techniques of traditional gardens from five points of water source, water state, water bureau, water type and water boundary, which are summarized as follows: checking the origin of water, removing the source, and "three distances from water, presenting the dynamic and static aspects".iii)Through the field investigation and analysis of three modern garden landscapes, namely,Xixi Wetland in Hangzhou,Nanhu Park in Hengyang and Meixi Lake Park in Changsha,it is found that the modern landscape treatment is better in the combination of water-facing buildings and plants, and there are still some shortcomings in the treatment of water sources, waterways and tails, such as the single form of poolside and the inadequatecreation of artistic conception.iv)Taking Hujiatang as an example, the design concepts of "one water, one heart","one bridge, two feelings" and "one pool, three sceneries" are put forward, and the concrete design scheme of practical transformation is completed.
