| With the deepening of aging, the elderly are more and more involved in our social life, and their "special needs" for outdoor public space require our cities to make the necessary changes to meet the needs of society. As the future development direction,Chinese theoretical data and practical experience related to the construction concept of “old-age-friendly cities” are still relatively few,and most of them are concentrated on urban political and economic goals, and the reference to landscape design is not strong. Therefore, this paper aims at the design of city square, according to the construction concept of "old-age friendly city",taking Zhouwangcheng Square in Luoyang as a practical case,to study the design method of old-age friendly city square,so as to contribute to the construction of old-age friendly city in our country. The core part of this paper is to put forward six design principles of functionality, accessibility, comfort, safety, identifiability and accessibility for the design of the old-age plaza.According to Maslow’s theory of psychological needs, the psychological needs of the elderly for public activity space are divided into seven aspects: health, comfort, safety, convenience, communication, privacy, and old-age behavior. These demands put forward coping strategies: providing the elderly with an appropriate challenging activity space to meet the health needs;enriching the diversity of space, weakening the impact of adverse factors can meet the comfort needs;a complete barrier-free transportation system to meet the safety needs of the elderly;adding service facilities and landmarks, improving the identification system, and setting nearby access can meet the convenience needs of the elderly;multi-level communication space can meet the needs of communication;different scales of semi-private space can meet the needs of privacy;design a good communication space for the elderly about their common interests can make the elderly having something to do.As for physiological needs,we from physical condition of the elderly to solve the common problems of the elderly, such as reduction in mobility, audiovisual ability, physical, balance barriers and so on.Finally, taking Zhouwangcheng Square in Luoyang City as an example,to ameliorate the problems found in the survey, such as insufficient security, chaotic traffic order, faulty infrastructure, interference among the active population, management and maintenance, and unfriendliness to the mobility impaired person. This paper redesigned Zhouwangcheng Square with the design principles and strategies of "home" as the design concept. |
