Shipping is the lifeblood of the national economy and a pillar industry,transportation has always been developing in the direction of safety,high efficiency and energy conservation.Unfortunately,however,the Marine traffic accident rate remains high.According to IMO statistics,more than 80% of maritime disasters worldwide are caused by human factors,among which collision accidents are more than 95%.Human factors have been recognized by the shipping industry as the leading cause affecting the safety of water transportation.Improving the quality of crew is the main solution to reduce the occurrence of maritime traffic accidents.In addition to the crew's own factors,the improvement of the quality of the crew is also related to the teaching quality of colleges and universities and training institutions.The establishment of professional teaching standards can be the theoretical basis for colleges in the direction,specifications and other aspects of personnel training.Due to the late formation of the professional teaching standards in China,the system is not perfect,and the research on maritime technology specialty is even less.In order to fulfill the requirements of the new IMO convention and revive the maritime silk road,it is particularly urgent to research and establish teaching standards for maritime technology.Based on the current research situation at home and abroad,at first,this paper shows the significance of the research,and determines the research direction,methods and ideas.Then,it defines the concept of teaching standards,summarizes the relevant elements that should be included in the establishment of teaching standards.At the same time,considering the particularity of seafarers' work,some additional considerations should be taken into account when establishing teaching standards for maritime technology majors.Through the teaching status of some higher vocational colleges,combining shipping market environment,and the status of international crew labor market as well as some domestic and international rules,e.g <Manila convention amendment>,this paper conducts a comprehensive survey on higher vocational navigation colleges,shipping enterprises,competent authorities and students(graduates),and establishes a scientific and effective comprehensive evaluation model for the analysis and demonstration of the results to draw the relevant conclusions,and establish the appropriate teaching standards for maritime technology in the end.The application and implementation of the maritime technology teaching standards in Z vocational and technical college has achieved some results,so it has been partly promoted in some other higher vocational colleges,which is of positive significance to the construction of the maritime talent team.The above is only a preliminary exploration on the teaching standards of maritime technology.There are still many issues to be further deepened and improved for the research contents including various elements(such as teachers,construction of training sites inside and outside the school,and quality assurance).
