Research On Industrial Heritage Landscape Design From The Perspective Of Collective Memory

Industrial heritage,as a carrier of urban memories,records the history of the past period and long unforgettable memories.When referring to an old factory building,the scenes of laborers,working hours,tooling,workshops,and schedules working in that area will come to mind.From the "Nizhny Tagil Charter" to the "Wuxi Declaration",the topic of the transformation of industrial heritage has been boiling and fermenting.In recent years,the unprecedented development speed of the media and the strong economic benefits it has generated have flooded our lives.Faced with the driving force generated by the current era,the original intention of the designer has been shaken.Excessive commercialization has become an established phenomenon in the current industrial heritage transformation projects,and the rise of the influence of the Internet has brought huge economic benefits to such projects.Therefore,the idea of transforming and designing from the characteristics of the industrial heritage is becoming less and less.It simply becomes an abandoned site,a place full of old objects and mottled walls,and then the implantation of commercial elements becomes a temporary noise.The lack of value of industrial heritage projects raises the following questions: What should be done to protect and transform industrial heritage? What do you do? What will be achieved? These issues will be before us and urgently need to be resolved.Starting from the author's practice objects,the scope of this study is mainly the representative industrial heritage renovation projects in the Sichuan-Chongqing region.Based on the results of personal experience and investigation,I find that the problem of excessive commercialization is very serious.It is hoped that by exploring and studying representative industrial heritage protection and transformation projects at home and abroad,and providing some personal insights and ideas for such projects,focusing on the value of industrial heritage itself,it will show the uniqueness of such projects specialty.This article takes the Chengdu People's Carton Factory as the research object,analyzes and summarizes the protection and transformation of industrial heritage at home and abroad,combines the current situation of the People's Carton Factory,takes the problem as the research guide,and proposes,analyzes,and solves problems.Excessive commercialization of industrial heritage protection and transformation and a series of issues related to it,put forward "collective memory" as the starting point for design.And in this research framework,the idea of "heterotopia" in the philosophical theoretical system is introduced,and its characteristics are analyzed and refined and applied to the design.Starting from the landscape part of industrial heritage,combined with the cross analysis of multiple disciplines such as philosophy,social psychology,design,landscape science,etc.,explore the appropriate way of industrial heritage protection and transformation.To make the research more comprehensive,I this paper combines the landscape part of the former site of the Chengdu People's Carton Factory as a design example,and combines the actual project with theoretical support further explain the main points of this article.
