Research On The Architectural Creation Process And Thought Of Cheng Taining

As one of the representative architects in contemporary China,Cheng Taining has always been devoted to explore an architectural road with Chinese characteristics.In more than 60 years of creative practice and theoretical exploration,Cheng Taining has brought numerous excellent works to China and even the world,and he constructed a set of architectural theory system based on the local conditions,which is rich in the connotation of Oriental culture.Conducting a systematic and in-depth research on Cheng Taining’s architectural thoughts,works and course will act as a reference for the development of Chinese architectural theory and the practice of junior architects.In this paper,the research on Cheng Taining,will be conducted based on a lot of basic data collection,combined with interviews,field research in cases and quantitative analysis and other ways,and from three dimensions of time,space and thought.This paper consists of five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly expounds the origin and current situation of the research,and determines the research purpose,content and method.Chapter 2,3 and 4 are the main research content of this paper,which studies Cheng Taining from three dimensions.The second chapter teases Architectural creation process of Cheng Taining from the time dimension.Based on sorting of documentation and personal interview,Cheng Taining’s career is divided into four stages: Architectural education,Accumulation of literacy,Thought maturity and diversified development.In the stage of Architectural education was mainly analyzed the influence of Beaux-Art and famous teachers such as Yang Tingbao and Liu Dunzhen on Cheng Taining’s creating course.In the last three stages,the author mainly analyzes from the perspectives of practical activities and theoretical development.In the third chapter,Cheng Taining’s architectural works are analyzed from the spatial dimension.Based on the statistics of Cheng Taining’s architectural works from 1956 to 2018,this paper analyzes the scale,types and regional distribution characteristics of Cheng Taining’s architectural works.Based on personal interviews,literature research and field research of some cases,the spatial characteristics of specific architectural works of Cheng Taining are further analyzed.Based on the collection of Cheng Taining’s published papers of his own and other scholars’ research literature,the author analyzes the characteristics of Cheng Taining’s design thoughts and educational thoughts by means of word frequency statistics and personal interview.The fourth chapter studies Cheng Taning’s reflecting on architectural creation and education from the perspective of thought,which makes an in-depth analysis of Cheng Taining’s creative thoughts and educational thoughts based on the statistics of word frequency in literature,and combined with personal interview and text interpretation.Cheng Taining’s creative thoughts are mainly analyzed from three levels: cultural view,environmental view and aesthetic view,and his educational thought mainly from two aspects of vocational education and the civic education.Finally,in chapter five,the author summarizes the enlightenment of Cheng Taining’s creating course and architectural thoughts to the practice of Chinese architects.This paper contains about 72 million words and 127 charts.
