As a representative of the style of the De Stijl in Holland, Mondrian promotedthe aesthetic feeling of abstract painting to reach the extent of concise extremely.He used the abstract form of composition to express his love of life, and madethe each kind of art form in the world be showed by the abstract painting formunder the role of “principle of inner need”.The bound of traditional painting was broke by his advanced design concept andminimalist creation form. He just used strict proportion and special colour todescribe the myriad changes in the universe. By this form of painting, Mondrianexpressed his respect to inner order of the world, at the same time, he also toldthe viewer that he loved his life so much and went overboard for creation ofpainting. This creative and shocked artistic thinking had spread his painting styletill now. And unique charm of Mondrian’s artistic characteristics had permeatedin the mainstream design areas, such as building design, costume design andindustrial design.By deeply researching for Mondrian’s artistic thought, this dissertation did the in-depth exploration and analysis for its use in the architectural design area.Through brief analysis of the various modern art school, author summarizeevolutionary process of Mondrian’s artistic thought. Afterwards, author illustrateshow Mondrian’s artistic thought reflect flexibly in the architectural design fromthe angle of time and space by studying the representative works of severalmaster architect.Due to different development levels of domestic and foreign architectural design, the use of Mondrian’s artistic thought in domestic architectural design field wasnot mature any more. After doing a great deal of data analysis, author rejected theadverse factors and kept the essence, tried hard to blend Mondrian’sneoplasticism artistic thought into architectural design, finally hoped to be ableto make a contribute to the development of China’s construction industry.
