The background of this research is the management of the Odebrecht crisis,a construction-oriented company headquartered in Brazil with a large presence throughout Latin America, responsible for one of the most prominent corruption scandals which involved many regional governments in 2014.The focus of the research is to demonstrate the importance of how a crisis can be relevant to the company's management and how different levels and areas of support are also needed to solve it and through this, proof how crisis management can pertain to more than just public relations using Odebrecht's situation as an example.Furthermore,it also seeks to pin-point the main effects seen with this company's crisis and identify their main causes. The researcher's goal is to expose the need to properly analyze a crisis, its effects and problems as it is imperative to identify the causes to propose better assessments which can help mitigate the crisis' impact and avoid further ones from happening. Moreover,it also seeks to demonstrate how it can be useful and necessary to question management's accountability in a crisis.Lastly, this research seeks to be a useful point of reference for any other company facing a public crisis that can extrapolate these findings to their situation and help them overcome their challenges. Thus, this document follows a qualitative-type research focusing on management theories supporting crisis management, situational crisis communication, image repair, stakeholder management and ethical leadership.Odebrecht's external and internal environments provide evidence of their unethical leadership and poor corporate governance;understanding these problems will allow for proposals with support of management derived theories to be made to attempt to solve them while,in parallel, manage and mitigate their post-crisis effects.Implementation plans will be provided for different management levels within the company to proof the relevance of their involvement and support when needed, and an overall conclusion will be developed together with the respective limitations and difficulties found and directions for further research.
